There was nothing wrong with the question. There’s little difference between “what does Romney need to do to earn starts” and “why isn’t Romney starting”? He lit into the guy for phrasing it the first way not the second. He’s just trying to take out his frustrations on other people. And he continued after him as he walked away from the mic. Pathetic.
I don't think he's taking his frustrations out on other people, but ask a question a stupid way, get a stupid reply. The better question is, if Porter and the Revs are under fire to change everything, why isn't there more people calling for the head of Luchi Gonzalez on the pike?
It wasn’t a stupid question. Luchi gets asked insulting or dumb questions sometimes but doesn’t get abusive to the questioner Whether or not he should still have his job is another question but at least he’s not an a$$hole.
Well asshole is subjective, some would think you and I are assholes. Luchi is a passive aggressive asshole. But in the instance as of late, he's a dog with his tail between his legs after being beaten and scolded by every team in the league, there isn't anything he can say to justify our record, Carlos Gruezo, Ebobisse and Judd.
It’s not all subjective. There has to be some standard of decent behavior towards other human beings.
What is the standard? Humans are Humans, no one is perfect, and no one has higher or lower standards. Let me apologize for all of humanity who don't live up to the JazzyJ expectations of decency, because being frustrated, annoyed, upset, depressed, angry, mad, etc aren't acceptable emotions, especially in high profile fast paced jobs. I also apologize for all of humanity for not responding to questions the right way.
It’s about the “body of work”. Of course no one’s perfect and everyone has those emotions. If it’s all subjective then whether or not Hitler, Jeffrey Dahmer, Gandhi, and Mother Teresa are decent people or not is merely a matter of opinion. That’s not a world I want to live in.
The world is what you make of it. Whats wrong with Dahmer? I understand why Gandhi and Mother Teresa are assholes.

Sure it was just a stupid question deserving of a completely unprofessional contemptuous response, other than that things are just fine 1792035563542900943 is not a valid tweet id

Doing the pressers and putting with stupid or obnoxious questions is part of the job. I wouldn’t want to be in that spot, but the coaches get paid for this. They should be able to be professional about it. Ever see “Bull Durham?” The scene where Crash goes over standard stupid platitudes with LaLouche? Crash rehearses the rookie on what to say to reporters asking stupid questions. All managers should be able to handle that. Hell, I never told any of my bosses: “You’re stupid.” Though, it was warranted a few times. Go Quakesfans!!
Yeah and the thing is, that question to Porter wasn’t really even stupid. “What does Romney need to do to get starts again”. It’s just another way of saying “Why isn’t Romney starting”. Is the difference enough to get *that* mad about it? Of course not - the guy just wanted to take out his frustrations on somebody - classic abusive behavior.
Yes. He could have gone with “the other guys are playing better right now.” Saying that Romney wasn’t good enough wasn’t cool, and then harassing the questioner was crap. On the other hand his “we lost because we got a red card in the 15th minute” seemed pretty reasonable. Also, the reporters have to understand that the coaches and players will be passed after a bad loss. And they could ask Luchi: “You did pretty well last season. This season you have an improved roster and you’re doing worse. What up with that?” That’s a reasonable question. It’s shit, but it’s on point. What sort of answer do you think you’d get out of Luchi if you asked him that? Go Quakesfans!!
The Aftershock guys ask Luchi insulting questions all the time. They’ll tee up a theory of the game in the 1st part of the show, and then often distill that into a leading and often critical and insulting question. And that’s fair. As coach you’re going get criticized by the “press” - it’s part of the deal. But he never gets pissed or insults them back even when there are probably times he just wants to say F you. A lot of times he’ll say “that’s fair I agree” and sometimes he’ll have a different view but he’s never abusive to the person asking the question. Of course coaches are pissed and frustrated after losses but it’s part of their job to be able to take a little heat without becoming personally abusive to members of the press. Their main job is to coach the team but a little part of it is also public-facing and they need to treat that part of it with some responsibility.
The deleted tweet below was from some Revs insider about how there lots of yelling in the locker room after the game... now there's this. Clearly a very eventful night for Porter and the gang. Former Quakes homegrown Nick Lima also involved. -Team owner Jonathan Kraft was said to be looking for head coach Caleb Porter after the match Saturday. Porter is said to have avoided meeting with Jonathan. Unclear if they met today. -Players and coaches were said to be arguing with each other in the locker room after the match. Among the players involved was Henry Kessler, Carles & MAK. -Porter is said to have multiple confrontations Saturday. One with Spaulding in the locker room after the game. The other with Nick Lima in the tunnel after the match. According to sources, Lima missed Caleb’s handshake while coming off in 83rd minute. Porter is said to have told Lima in the tunnel “don’t ever disregard my ********ing handshake again.” Lima shouted back it wasn’t intentional. This is the second time in 2 weeks Lima and Porter have gotten into it.More drama from Saturday night after the #NERevs lost to #DOOP:-Team owner Jonathan Kraft was said to be looking for head coach Caleb Porter after the match Saturday. When you've lost mild-mannered nice guy Nick Lima! Having a terrible record is one thing, and is enough to justify a firing, but when you've also lost the locker room, it should be a no-brainer.
Yeah, it just goes to show that he's taking out his frustrations on other people - players, press, etc. Highly immature.
The Quakes may have set a record tonight, they have to be the first MLS team to be eliminated from US Open Cup by a lower division team three years in a row. They didn't respect the tournament, started a B team so they could rest their top players, ended up having to play them anyways so they'll be tired this weekend, and still managed to blow two leads and lose. The Quakes pretty much only have US Open Cup to play for this season given they're dead last in the standings, and yet Luchi started guys like Tanner Beason who shouldn't be in MLS, had a homegrown Verhoeven make his debut which shows the low priority this was... and at the end brought on Tommy Thompson to show everyone why he also shouldn't be in MLS at this point. Luchi is a joke, get this guy out of there before the weekend. There's no reason to wait when Ian Russell is already on staff. Has any MLS team ever been knocked out of the Open Cup by a USL team three years in a row?An utter disgrace the way the Quakes handle this tournament.— Alex Morgan (@quakes_talk) May 22, 2024 LAFC literally started Bounga Tillman and Olivera against an even WEAKER USL team lmao But Luchi wants to play the bum ass b team players against an undefeated SAC team cuz he thinks its FIFA 🤣🤣🤣🤦♂️ start off in a hole for what? only to make it a grind for a L— Acosta (@DonPupusa) May 22, 2024 It’s cruel to make him and Beason play against pros at this point.— Quan (@supertbq) May 22, 2024 BEASON AND TOMMY THOMPSON DELIVER MY DOORDASH YOU FUCKING BUMBS— 4PFnest0rr🇺🇸🇲🇽🇩🇪🇯🇲 (@nest0r3) May 22, 2024 well said
