I think I read they are close to announcing a stadium in Brooklyn, but those rumors have come and gone for years now. Certainly NYC playing in a baseball stadium is a bigger problem for the league than SJ fighting for a playoff spot each year.
Perhaps Fisher should rename the Quakes the Washington Generals. That would help adjust fan expectations...
How about the San Jose Sucks? Instead of a fog horn, we could just have a "suck" horn. Or to save money, we could just go with two letters like the A's "San Jose S's". Plus, the S could have multiple meanings...
I know the globies reference but too specific and complimentary. How about The Washington Soccer Team, or The San Jose Soccer Team-ish.

maybe a local tech billionaire will go to a world cup game at levi's in 2026 and get into soccer and buy the quakes from Fisher... one can hope.
And a sense of humor not yours. My guess is that Lowell would find that pretty damn funny, (depending on your accuracy, and the weight of the object you chuck at him). Try it once, let us know how it goes.
I think you're funny I remember lol'ing at the horse picture you posted even though I don't remember exactly what it was anymore.
It really could be happening... Boom 💥 @Athletics BCDC vote passes! 23-2 What a huge win for our waterfront ballpark project and the future of Oakland and the A’s! pic.twitter.com/TN6v9hp8Jf— Dave Kaval (@DaveKaval) June 30, 2022 amazing gif pic.twitter.com/vyal1AsTaq— Cal (@Citizen510) June 30, 2022 the original from Moneyball: Today’s vote moves Oakland toward a more prosperous future. Our city has historically been overlooked for major economic development, but today that story about Oakland changes. #DrumTogether pic.twitter.com/lqS1qS1vym— Libby Schaaf (@LibbySchaaf) June 30, 2022
A’s waterfront ballpark wins key state agency vote for Howard Terminal A key state agency voted Thursday in favor of the Oakland A’s request to remove Howard Terminal’s 56 acres from port designation — dealing a major win to the team’s $12 billion waterfront ballpark project and surrounding development. The San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission voted that Howard Terminal isn’t needed for port use, an important step in the A’s quest to get a new ballpark. Two commissioners voted against it. Without a “yes” vote from BCDC, the project would have died. The commission’s vote doesn’t approve the project, but it allows it to move forward. ... At stake is a project that could boost the city’s economy and build thousands of new housing units, including affordable homes. If the A’s win all the necessary approvals and build the project, it would be one of the most expensive developments in state history and would completely transform the Jack London Square area. The A’s have proposed building a $1 billion, privately financed 35,000-seat waterfront ballpark at Howard Terminal, with 3,000 residential units, up to 1.5 million square feet of commercial space, up to 270,000 square feet for retail, an indoor 3,500-seat performance center, 400 hotel rooms and up to 18 acres of publicly accessible open space. ... The BCDC approval gives the A’s and the city until 2025 to enter into a binding agreement. If that doesn’t happen, Howard Terminal will automatically revert back to a port priority use designation.
Oh haha thank you so much! But that’s a long time between laughs. That photo was when i photoshopped Almeyda’s torso on top of shirtless Putin riding a horse. Back also when we thought Putin was a lot more harmless.
Congratulations to all of the Oakland Athletics fans here and elsewhere for whom it looks very likely now that they'll be keeping their team in town rather than losing it to any of the other rumored locations over the years such as Las Vegas, San José, San Antonio, Los Angeles, etc. (that last one would've made for a very crowded Southern California MLB market). GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
I'm paraphrasing what Ray Ratto said over a year ago about the A's getting a new ball park in Oakland, I'll believe it when there's shovels in the ground.
If you were not an NBA owner by age 34, this story might make you feel pretty bad about yourself… In Nov-2021, after 11+ years, I began a process to sell my ownership in the @warriors. I sold an initial tranche in Dec-2021 and last week I sold my remaining stake to existing investors.A few reflections as I close this chapter…— Chamath Palihapitiya (@chamath) July 5, 2022

When his performance doesn't match the $12 million salary it will take to get him, we would never hear the end of it from JazzyJ. This is the main reason I'm against it.
