"Warriors Acquire Charlie Bell And Dan Gadzuric From Milwaukee" (Tuesday, 6/22/10) No more Corey Maggette here. -G
You guys are really getting some stick for passing up on Monroe/Aminu. Hopefully Udoh pans out. Also heard Biens and Ellis are on the chopping block.
I don't want to sound like I'm raining down on the parade. I'm optimisitc about both our teams' chances this season. Once yall get a new coach (assuming Nellie doesn't have an absurd change of heart) there should be some relative stability. Curry, Morrow, Williams, Udoh, and Biedrins is a pretty upside heavy team. With acquiring Udoh it seems Anthony Randolph is on his way out of town. If that's the case its a shame because I see him as Lamar Odom Lite down the road.
Hopefully we'll have new ownership soon as well. "Texas billionaire David Bonderman identified as fourth bidder for Golden State Warriors" (Wednesday, 6/30/10) The public faces of the four currently-known groups interested in buying the Warriors seem to be: Oracle billionaire Larry Ellison 24-Hour Fitness founder Mark Mastrov (leading a group that includes Magic Johnson) Mandalay Entertainment chairman Peter Guber TPG Capital co-founder David Bonderman Whoever ends up as the new owner, will a new head coach be far behind? -G
Apparently our teams are going to be sharing the same D-League team in the Reno Bighorns. You guys can have dibs on every position but SF.
Happy for yall getting Lee. Also this looks to give hope that Tolliver and Williams will be coming back to repalce the outgoings.
Interestingly, LeBron James' recent move to Miami directly affected this trade: the New York Knicks' first choice was to get Lebron, but when they saw that he went to Miami, they went ahead with the trade for their second choice (Anthony Randolph). As for getting David Lee, it also helps the Warriors that he's in his prime (27) rather than being either a young project or a player way past his prime, and that he evidently wants to be here (he evidently did have a choice). -G
That's a huge loss. Morrow's meteoric rise to fame is what drew me to watching more of yall's games. The guy is a flat out scorer. I'm happy that he got his big contract but his sharpshooting skills will be missed in the Bay.
Wright has some potential but is extremely raw. He's shown flashes of brilliance next to Wade and I hope he can get a solid shot with yall.
However... "Joseph Lacob outbids Larry Ellison to become new owner of Golden State Warriors" (Thursday, 7/15/10) -G
I was hoping for Ellison too, but the more I hear about Joseph Lacob (who's likely to be the more hands-on of the new ownership that also includes Peter Guber), the more I think that the Warriors could still be in good hands now. In any case, it's indeed for the best that the unmentionable one is no longer with the team. -G
Golden State Warriors' Ekpe Udoh out six months Great. Lee and Gadzuric, the only two healthy bigs. Bynum and Gasol must be shaking in their booties.
I hope Lee's injury is nothing serious. I was hoping the curse would be over after the team was sold. Hey, is Jeremy Lin any good, or is it just a gimmick to please the Asian fans?
Well, the NBA is hardly a Park on Man U situation where despite whatever talents the player actually possesses there will always be a suspicion that one of the more attractive talents is the player's ability to sell shirts in Asia. NBA is popular anyway. Honestly, it'll be more surprising that a guy from Harvard made it into the NBA then it is that he's Asian. Apparently he held his own against John Wall recently and has good court vision. Most NBA point guards take a while to develop an NBA-caliber court vision, if he really has that already then the rest of his game can develop at a normal pace and he'd already be exceptional. Let's see how he does the rest of the summer though.
