I don't know about the national team, but I do think he is underrated. Maybe his thugish look makes people think he lacks skill. That can help him - surprising the opponents is a good thing.

Someone, anyone--hurry! Get Tony a couple of lids--quick! For medicinal purposes.

    Maybe it's Craig's fiancee.
However, I do agree with spejic, Craig does get a bit too much ragging.

This Weekend i expect Craig Waibel to take back his starting job. And he will Tear it up back there on defence.

Wes Hart was pretty poor. Which is a shame, really, as he's in my fantasy team. I suspect I'll be offloading him tomorrow when Waibel reclaims his place.

Unless he gets sent off again.

Craig is doing well since last season. He has lost about ten pounds. His footwork is improved and is getting used to not playing center back. Just one word Waibelino!

Waibel was red-carded against DC in the first game of this season. Since then, Wes Hart has been starting in his place.

    GO EARTHQUAKES!!!

After Saturday (I.e. not getting in to replace Eddie), I'm starting to think he might be in DOM's dog house.

I saw that Brian Ching was signed to a multi-year deal with MLS in the Merc fine print sports section today. I believe Craig's contract is up at the end of the season and he hasn't yet been resigned. What's up with that? Not only is he great with the fans, but he is one of our most reliable players.

Not to worry. All the contracts don't get negotiated at the same time. I too, would be very upset if Craigie didn't get re-signed.

    And I as well!!!

He has been too cool too list everything here (see my other posts), but just the fact that he has been one of the few players to walk over to our sections after games to high-5 fans makes him O.K. in my book!!!!

Me too...he's been very supportive and excited about the SSV efforts. I also know that he's great with the kids and community. It would be a big loss for both the team and community if Waibel wasn't resigned.

Yes, definitely. It's Erin's influence. I also call the team, "My Quakies!"

Right! I always look to Lindsey as the arbiter of spelling issues.

waibel has been great on defense this year, and no one who's been to a game would disagree i think. However, i wish waibel would do himself and his teammates a favor, and make the sure entry pass first. at least 3-4 times a game he's trying to do too much with it and possesion is lost before we can even build the attack.

i am glad to hear he's a fan favorite.

    GO QUAKES!!

Some players should be resigned. Others should be re-signed.

Holy crap, I can't believe this thread existed and I haven't posted in it yet. KC loves Craig Waibel! He's become the official Cauldron mascot whenever we play you guys.

His footwork has gotten so much better now that we call him Waibelino.

    Waibeliño rocks!

Plus he promised to give me his game boots. But it's been too hard getting to him through the pony-tail brigade after the matches. :(
