Another strong hire after Wolyneic. He could likely be the best keeper coach the Quakes have ever employed. Tim Hanley is very good but the old school distribution was a several handicap. The teams that Brown has coached were committed to playing out of the back. This hire should ensure the Quakes are one of the best in MLS at doing that.
Brown has worked with some very good keepers as well. I hope we bring in another GK to compete with Marcinkowski. We should see some improvements to JTM, if not then hopefully we have someone who can step up. I have no issues upgrading or replacing JTM.
If I were Leitch I wouldn’t look to replace JT based on last year’s play. The defensive midfield shape was trash and no keeper had to face as many wide open shots as JT did. If the Quakes improve defensively and JT is giving up too many goals, then yeah they can consider upgrading. The Quakes under Almeyda/Covelo had a worse defense than the Chivas USA one that was in front of Dan Kennedy. Nobody seem to hold Kennedy’s GAA against him.
Kennedy was a better keeper than Marcinkowski is currently. I would be ok with an upgrade to Marcinkowski or seeing if he improves with Brown. I don't hold a keepers stats against him a lot of variables go in it. So far JT isn't an elite performer nor is he a tier 2, He's inbetween a 2 / 3 right now. But I'd like to see how good he'd be with an actual CB pairing in front of him not named Nathan, Rodrigues or Beason. One would assume he'd be pretty good with Long/Zimmerman in front of him though.
Sure am glad Fisher didn’t hire Dennis Te Klose. Galaxy fans are rightly embarrassed by the cap scandal and DTK is right in the middle of it. I hope he never gets another job in MLS.
Will Kuntz the guy from the LAFC front office that the Quakes didn't hire is now going to the LA Galaxy Sources: Will Kuntz has joined the LA Galaxy front office.Kuntz spent 2017-22 with LAFC, helping build the rosters that led to one MLS Cup and two Supporters’ Shields. He joins interim sporting director (& head coach) Greg Vanney, technical director Jovan Kirovski and more. pic.twitter.com/4eQThvRpng— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) March 18, 2023 Former LAFC Assistant General Manager, Will Kuntz, has joined the LA Galaxy’s front office, per @tombogert 📰 pic.twitter.com/G2TerNFfQ4— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) March 19, 2023
I'm no fan of LA but you have to admire how their fans have been willing to stand up for their team. if he leaves it will be in no small part because the fans made their voices heard. SJ fans have had it infinitely worse going all the way back to the arrival of David Beckham when it became clear that SJ would not be signing stars, game changers, aka big time DP's...a fact that has never once changed in the 15 years since and will never change with Fisher here making sure that we're MLS laughingstock every year. Fisher really needs to go. Nothing changes until then.

hopefully he's more worried about building that competitive roster he promised us two seasons ago than stalking his detractors.
Lets see: 1) Hard to work around the cap 2) The new guy has done well in MLS before and might just need a change of scenery 3) Signing Espi is the biggest MLS move this season (guess he missed the Messi thing) and shows that Espi believes in the team trajectory 4) We'll stick to the guns that got us here so far. 5) He'll never give up on you
1) Hard to work around the cap is it really though, Quakes could've done more in the summer transfer window if the desire had been there. 2) The new guy has done well in MLS before and might just need a change of scenery let's hope you're right. it could happen, theoretically. 3) Signing Espi is the biggest MLS move this season (guess he missed the Messi thing) and shows that Espi believes in the team trajectory Glad to see Espinoza re-signed here! I've been out of the loop and this was the first I'd heard of it. 4) We'll stick to the guns that got us here so far. I think our roster is set, as I said, so this is probably right. 5) He'll never give up on you but he's already let us down.
While I think touting a re-signing of an existing player (albeit a very good one) is a bit of a spin in touting his summer moves, CL didn’t say it was “the biggest move” in MLS. He said it was “bigger than most any moves” he’s seen around MLS. The “any” doesn’t serve much purpose here other than to say that you are considering *any* midseason move in your proclamation. So if we remove the mostly superfluous “any”. it comes down to “bigger than most moves in MLS this transfer window”, which may be true but of course Messi is the biggest by far. And it really doesn’t help us this year - Espinoza was already under contract for this year. It’s a next year move.
So if we were to rank based off @Quakes05 I assume this is the order? 1st - Tom Neale 2nd - Johnny Moore 3rd - Kate McAllister & Ken Freccero 4th - Peter Bridgewater 5th - John Doyle 6th - Can of Dog Shit 7th - Fioranelli 8th - Leitch 9th - Lynne Meterparel 10th - Everyone Else 11th - Lalas
