I must say, he's impressed me very much so far this year. He's getting into the attack, he's pretty steady at right back. By far one of the best players on the team right now. He's very under rated. Looking at stats today, he's tied for 1st in the league with 3 assists, he's tied with Lopez (KC), Donovan (Scum), Alonso (X-Box).

If he keeps playing at this steady pace, I hope he can cast an All-Star appearance.

    I think we'll keep him.

Excellent, I really liked Leitch's play from the first game on. His defense is adequate, and his long ball ability to pass our less than stellar midfield and get an attack going is excellent.

Ever since the first brilliant pass disguised as a horrible shot to set up Weaver for the goal against the orange scum, I knew he would be an assist machine! :) Huckerby, look out!

Leitch means Bad A$$ in some foreign language I think...probably one of those places where they eat a lot of sausage and drink tons of beer.

It's not technically a foreign language, but it's generally unintelligible.

And I think he can overlap as well. He just stays at home mostly now because of our backline woes and inability to recover if were to get caught up field.

His form has been variable if you consider his entire career, but he sure seems to have taken to playing in San Jose, is playing well, and has made me forget James Riley ever existed.

Leitch brings a presence to the pitch. He is solid and works hard. Doesn't get knocked off the ball very easily, and has great vision. His touch on the ball is very good, and he does have that "fire" burning within him. He is all about the team...and getting to talk with him just a little off the pitch....he is a class guy. San Jose are lucky to have him.

Actually it means something more like "bad a$$ doctor who puts leaches on your body to cure you". Seriously, the name has Scottish or English origin and was used for "doctor". Knowing what their standard treatment was back on those days, it's not hard to see where the name came from.

Agreed. And aren't some of those the sorts of traits we value in a captain?

Agree with the general sentiment in the thread - I liked Riley a lot by the end of last season and was sad to lose him - but after watching the games so far, Leitch definitely was a good replacement and probably quite an upgrade at right back. He's won me as a fan.

We do need a captian with his experience. If he continues at this pace i cant see why Yallop wouldnt make him captain. I dont know how good Hernandez is but i hear good things, and we do need the help. But my opinion so far is that he is the best player on the pitch....

So Yallop is going from open, long-ball style to...what? Attacking, possession-oriented, like they once featured on the way to a few MLS Cups?

But does Yallop have the same quality of players at his disposal as he did during those MLS Cup runs?

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!!

anyone know if he's seriously hurt from last night...a concussion? Just woozy?

It looked on replay like he got hit in the face but the real damage probably occured as the back of his head whipped down onto the ground.

The announcers were saying leg injury but it sure looked like it was his head...

Please don't let Chris be hurt long...we really need him!

Yeah....his not being on the pitch probably is what changed about the defense and mential focus and allowed for the goal!!

Well they said on the broadcast last night that he was mostly fine, answering the questions fine and being aware of where he was (lol), but they just took him off as a precaution. I think he'll be playing our next game. We'd really be screwed if he wasn't available.

Hopefully he has a speedy recovery, but you cannot rush someone with a concussion. Post concussion symptoms are the worst.
