Brother Jimmy's, three of them actually, the shot is from 428 Amsterdam (80/81 Sts), but another lies at 1485 2nd Ave (77/78 Sts) and the third at 1644 3rd Ave (92St). Also: http://www.brotherjimmys.com/
What is this thread doing slumming on the 2nd page? By the way, I had some lovely kabobed beef and pork today. Lucious. Plus some crab rangoon.
So this weekend at the beach was good eatin' time. Shrimp Friday night, pizza and Dairy Queen cherry-dipped cones Saturday night and fabulous seafood from Ed's (not Big Ed's) shack on Sunday. I had coconut shrimp that came with corn on the cob and there they serve seafood with a berry dipping sauce. Very good. I almost went for the crab because you gotta love eating something you get to whack with a mallet first.
Did you go to Nicola's for pizza? It's in Rehoboth, just off the boardwalk. Great pizza there. Plus strombolis.
I guess this is a "kill two birds with one stone" post: Where can one get mink meat? Does it grill well? Okay, my theory is, how can anyone can crazy about mink coats? Minks are raised on mink ranches in their little mink condos, they're supposedly mean & nasty critters, and have no other real purpose in life other than to become a nice coat. So... what happens to the meat? I've never heard of mink chops, or mink on a stick, and I'm just very curious.
GROTTO! Damn them! A bunch of my friends and I went in there on the all you can eat night with the intention of eating enough pizza to screw up the entire evening for them. Instead, they got us with this double stack pizza that is 2 slices but looks like only one. We are plotting some kind of revenge in the future. As for the minks...I think the only solution is to hunt down a mink and grill it.
Once again, I'm thrilled someone asked information I've just been waiting to use. The entire animal is used. Mink meat is processed to become protein meal, a basic ingredient in pet and animal feeds. I also stumbled across this while searching, completely unrelated: http://www.miniaturedonkeys.com/
Although the Junior league cookbook idea is genuis, you can't beat a good southern baptist church cookbook. I'll see if I can find a link. Here's one that has a bunch of church and other cookbooks: http://www.cookbooks.com/cbold1.htm
Animals I've never eaten, but imagine would taste really bad: 1) Horses 2) Bears 3) Beavers 4) Cats kevin + http://tullamarine.org
Did any of y'all watch Dateline tonight? All that meat, just sizzling away - I have got to get to a good butcher tomorrow!
I subscribe to this: http://www.dailyinbox.com/rcp/ind.shtml; which sends a recipe a day, mostly from Junior Leagues, churches and other places who have published their own cookbooks. The key is to make sure that the person submitting the recipe had to give her name! NO woman will submit a bad recipe! With that in mind, you don't get to control what recipe comes on which day, but there have been some keepers!
Bump. On the grill tonight: teriyaki beef tips...they're marinating right now. I think we're having salad and something else...can't remember.
A full grilled unagi (fresh water eel) served on top of rice. I cheated though - I got one of those pre-cooked sealed-pack deals. Still good, almost like mom used to make it.
Lunch today: Spicy chilled ramen with pork, egg, vegetables etc. in it. Along with a caterpillar roll, so I'm not the only one who had eel today. kevin + http://tullamarine.org
That would make two of us, Fidlerre. There's a limit to how many times I can go to my parents' house or just eat grapes... I do plan to thaw some frozen white fish fillets the minute I have some oj to marinate them in, then grill them. I've been threatening to do this for a while now, maybe this is the week I make my move!
Can't let this thread die. Went down to North Carolina this weekend. Mmmm, sweet tea. No grilling or BBQ but good stir fry. I'll be cooking curry sometime this week. Any suggestions? I'm thinking the basic, potatoes, carrots, onions plus an apple and a basil leaf.
Ian! *** Last night we had cajun chicken breasts...made the same way as the whole cajun chickens we've had, but not as good. The mashed potatoes, though, were scrumtrilescent.
They little blurb under my name suggests I'm a BigSoccer Vet. As far as the animals are concerned, I'm the Dr. Kevorkian of veternarians, however.
