Hjelmseth has performed consistently for Stabæk even if the games have been lost. She kept a clean sheet in the last game. One good thing about playing for a struggling team is that you get a lot to do as a goalkeeper. - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - o - Candidate number 3, Mina Kjørum and Fart's counter-attack voted Goal of the Week for Matchday 12. Well, that's true! So, I assume she was one of the few who managed to keep some of the games at least close. I am always happy when my favourite goal is chosen!
Cecilie Redisch Kvamme was officially announced as West Ham United player today. She is 23 years old, signed from Sandviken, and has made 161 competitive matches in Norwegian club football (most of them for Arna Bjørnar) and also scored 14 goals. She is a speedy and pocket-sized (158 cm) right full-back who was selected as one of Norway's overaged players in the U23 NT earlier this week. I wanted her in the senior squad, but Sjögren thought otherwise. She was also part of Norway's squad in France this summer, but never featured on the field. Will be interesting to see her in West Ham.

As serial winners, they have the mental advantage when new challengers threaten them. The surprising defeat to Anderlecht made them focus 100% on this game. Vålerenga had most of the possession and the chances, but lacked coolness and quality up front when it mattered. They needed a top performance, but couldn't deliver on the day. Vålerenga are now fourth since Klepp and Sandviken both won. But the four clubs are still in the title race. This LSK edition is vulnerable and can still slip up. At the bottom of the table, Fart wasted a two-goal lead at home against lowly placed Lyn, which might cost them dearly at the end of the season. Both goal-scorers in that game, Julie Blakstad and Runa Lillegård, are born 2001 - two of Norway's brightest talents. I have a soft spot for Nygard's Cruyff turn at number three. You can vote here.

On Tuesday, Norway host England in Bergen and around 6000 tickets are sold nearly a week before the match. Top row from left: Maria Thorisdottir, Kristine Leine, Ingrid Moe Wold, Cecilie Fiskerstrand, Emilie Nautnes, Lisa Marie Utland, Oda Bogstad, Ingrid Hjelmseth, Elise Thorsnes, Maren Mjelde, Amalie Eikeland and Karina Sævik. Bottom row from left: Tuva Hansen, Frida Maanum, Kristine Minde, Vilde Bøe Risa, Guro Reiten, Caroline Hansen, Ingrid Engen and Synne Hansen.
EURO 2021 qualifier, Belfast Northern Ireland 0 - 6 Norway Reiten 5, C.Hansen 16, 63, 72, Eikeland 82, 90 ----------------- Lisa Marie Utland --- Caroline Hansen ---- Guro Reiten --------------------------------------- Karina Sævik --------------------- Vilde Bøe Risa -- Ingrid Engen Kristine Minde -- Maria Thorisdottir -- Maren Mjelde -- Ingrid Moe Wold ----------------------------- Cecilie Fiskerstrand Substitutions 71 min - Amalie Eikeland for Lisa Marie Utland 71 min - Frida Maanum for Ingrid Engen 84 min - Elise Thorsnes for Guro Reiten Three away points and a good start to the campaign. Norway lined up with the World Cup starting eleven with the exception of Fiskerstrand who replaced Hjelmseth in goal. The latter will have her farewell game against England next week. Norway looked completely in control for most of the match, except for the end of the first half and the first fifteen of the second half when NI threatened a few times from set pieces. The Norwegian passing game was quite sloppy then. Thorisdottir and Engen guilty in particular. But Norway improved as the game wore on and the opponents ran out of steam. The Norwegians were clearly surperior physically. Caro Hansen was the star of the show with her hat-trick, especially her second goal was a beauty, a slalom goal through the NI defence. Waiting for highlight videos to pop up..

International friendly, Bergen Norway 2 - 1 England Maanum 53, Hansen 89 - Stanway 10 --------------------- Guro Reiten --- Caroline Hansen ---- Amalie Eikeland -------------------------------- Karina Sævik --------------------- Vilde Bøe Risa -- Frida Maanum Kristine Minde -- Maria Thorisdottir -- Maren Mjelde -- Ingrid Moe Wold ---------------------------------- Ingrid Hjelmseth Substitutions 56 min - Ingrid Engen for Frida Maanum 69 min - Lisa-Marie Utland for Amalie Eikeland 86 min - Cecilie Fiskerstrand for Ingrid Hjelmseth A great occasion in Bergen with 10830 spectators. It didn't even rain! I think Brann Stadion should be Norway's permanent home for the women's team. Norway beat the team which eliminated them from the World Cup this summer. A tiny revenge tonight. Three tactical changes from the Northern Ireland game. Reiten moved up as centre forward as Utland was benched. Amalie Eikeland took Reiten's spot on the wing. Ingrid Engen was benched with her lower arm injury. Frida Maanum took her place. Hjelmseth was back in goal also. England started best against a passive Norwegian team which looked uncomfortable in the opening minutes. Stanway's goal was a rare bullet in the top corner. She almost looked shocked when scoring. The game became more balanced after that, but few scoring chances were created from either team. I think Norway were the better team in the second half and we deserved the equalizer from Maanum. Ingrid Hjelmseth, in her 138th and final match, got a standing ovation from the crowd when substituted a few minutes from the end. Caro Hansen gave her a perfect farewell gift with a brilliant winning goal shortly after. All in all a very good performance by Norway. This team is going places, but we still have too many "unforced errors" in our passing game. That needs to be sorted out. We weren't punished tonight, but there are things to work on. Our first two post-WC games have ended in wins and that's a good start. Highlights from the match to follow..
More transfer news. NRK is reporting that Kolbotn goalkeeper Aurora Mikalsen is leaving for Manchester United. She trained with the club when United were in Norway for the Vålerenga match. Still, quite a surprise to see Norway export a goalkeeper to England while currently not in the national team set-up. I think she should be though. Mikalsen is better than Sjögren's third choice Oda Bogstad in my opinion.

Sandviken dropped points against lowly Lyn and Klepp crashed away at Vålerenga. The next two weeks will decide the season. LSK play Klepp (away) and Sandviken (home). If LSK win both, they are practically champions again. For the sake of excitement in the league, I hope they stumble in at least one game. Yep, but she is overshadowed this season by Runa Lillegård among goalscoring young guns. Lillegård has seven goals this season for 10th placed Lyn, which is quite remarkable. Lyn have only scored 12 goals this season. Sophie Haug is an old fashioned, powerful centre-forward, may be a tad slow, and Lillegård is a more dynamic and modern player with incredible pace. She is from up north and her nickname is Hurtig-Runa, which is taken from Hurtigruta (speed route), the Northern Norwegian coastline cruise express. Runa used her pace to score this weekend against Sandviken.
