I live here in Los Angeles and its by far the worst the hate has ever been towards Argentina lol I just wanna know why...
Who do you find that is hating Argentina? Are you talking about Americans or about Latino immigrants?
Lots of Latinos don't like Argentines, they think we are too arrogant. I suppose there's some truth to that in some cases. Most Americans don't really dislike us. It's more the other way around, many Argentines dislike Americans.
Yeah I have some psychological complexity when I put on the NT jersey on in public I get looks or people start talking about Messi or whatever like I'm not even there. In Los Angeles it's like 10,000 to 1 I've had to deal with this ever since I was a child and almost had to get in fights for it I wish there were more of us
Same here bro, In LA its been all my life So I'm always prepared to Debate with ignorant people While I rock my jersey
You mean...we aren't alone One time it was during a friendly against Mexico at the L.A. Colosseum My dad too me a couple times but this one we were enterig through the wrong side and there were hundreds of Mexican fans there destroying us with their eyes It was the most uncomfortable thing for me I don't think it was out of ordinary since we would have done that vice versa but what led up to that night was horrible They threw piss or beer at us in the stands I was flipping all of them off A lot of them were probably cholos I felt like I had all of the Arg fans on my shoulders lmao I think we tied that game I forgot I went to about 3 friendlies between Mexico and Argentina
Tbh I think I was there at these as well lol, damned if we win and damned if we don't, Its all long walk back to the parking lot like a crip walkin thru blood turf
Yeah true Just wish I went to the one in San Diego where we thrashed them 4-1 I wanted to taste some red green and white tears
If its in LA, its because of Mexicans; they hate us, and with good reasons. Recently, we've bounced them from the World Cup twice. And after doing so, we never made a big deal about it because we don't care about them. If you ever talk to a Mexican about soccer, they think that they are a real threat. That their NT is one of the premier teams. But in reality, they barely qualified in one of the weakest zones. Regardless, b/c of Suarez, I think the Uruguayans were the most hated. Sorry Uruguay.
After the Falklands That was well deserved for the smug brits They basically made the sport and are behind historically just sad
Off topic, but why is one of your club call River Plate? Isn't that an English name? Also there seem to be a lot of players from all NT team that have English name like Joel Campbell, Eden Hazard, etc.... what up with that?
Pshh that just adds more hilarity to it The brits are behind to nations they culturally colonized or influenced Just goes to show who does it better Plus those are just names Its like mentioning English being spoken around the world It doesnt add significance to anything footbal related How many Brits play worldwide? Without foreigners that league would look so dull
The english invented the game and many of the first teachers in america were british inmigrants. As for the history of our glorious club name in particular, wikipedia got it right this time: The name was chosen because of an incident during the construction of Buenos Aires Port: one of the members had seen how the workers of Dique 3 left their duties for a while to play a football match. The boxes they were working with just said "The River Plate" (the name the English gave to the Río de la Plata) and that 'enigmatic' inscription was taken to name the new club. Many central american countries have english names due to colonization, influence or fashion. Not usual at all in Argentina.
The british sphere of influence was so huge it was everywhere that is why co many of the clubs in Argentina have british names... River Plate, Boca Juniors, Argentinos Juniors, Newell's Old Boys, Rosario Central, All Boys, Banfield.... There is even a club currently in 2nd division named Douglas Haig after the the British World War I General. There are many neighborhoods with british names too.. Hurlingham is a community where cricket is played and really popular in the west of greater Bs As, there's also a town called O'Brien where the captain of my club, Fernando Cavenaghi, was born There were also people of british descent to have played for the argentina national team most notably Carlos Babington and Carlos MacAllister who played for Boca Just study a bit of history, the british were every where, and in latin america they constructed most of the railroads and these people taught the game to argentines, brazilians, uruguayans, et all.
