Social Democratism is a moderate form of Socialism. The Social Democratic current came into being by a break within the Socialist movement in the early 20th century. One reformist group of Socialists rejected the idea of a Socialist revolution, and instead tried to achieve the Socialist ideals through Democratic means. Social Democrats are in favor of a highly regulated Capitalist market economy, but with a strong and large government [Moderate Interdependence]. Social Democracy is often considered the most commonly embraced political ideology in the world.

As I look over their definitions I see that I was very close to: Which is true, in a nutshell. That is to say I think change is posible and desireable but it happens through a more organic process of changing conditions and changing views. I've considered myself a conservative populist but conservative neoliberal is fine with me too. I guess I am a child of the 70's. Ick. This is also how I would characterize Bush, i.e. a Conservative Neoliberal. The Paleoconservatives are more than happy to tell people that Bush is not one of them as are the traditional liberals. I'd also put Clinton somewhere near there too, i.e. a freemarket liberal.
I thought I would try to answer the questions as Neo would, given that this is the Moral Matrix. Here is what I think his answers would be: 1 C - Neo seems to be an atheist, but not against religion per-se 2 B - Zion is full of black people and black people are cool, so they are better 3 D - Preserve threatened human culture! 4 A - Well, there is only a single nation left, so not much of an argument 5 D - No computer control over human lifestyles, dude. 6 A - Women kick ass just as well as men 7 C - Kind of hard, given that almost no nature remains 8 C - What The Matrix is all about, baby 9 B - Only some can be freed from the Matrix 10 ? - Nothing to go on here. I put D as the business that created AI really screwed everyone over, but probably made a killing before the AI made a killing. 11 A - With exciting results! 12 C - Everyone has to help everyone else out in Zion. 13 C - Neo's lifestyle gets in the way of his work pre-awakening. And he isn't big on the trappings of success. 14 B - Selling cracking software brings in the bucks! 15 C - same as 12 16 D - Neo is the criminal, but I guess he would be happy with this answer. Final result: -3.5, 1.5, Social Democratism. Strange that Neo ends up with almost the same score as me, given that the only question we answered the same was #9.

It is part of the results, but you'd have to score a -7 to be labeled a Libertarian Capitalist or a Libertarian Socialist. Also, I believe that this test is using Liberalism in its classic sense, which is cool, because Libertarians are classic Liberals. Check out the definitions for Ultra-Liberalism and Progressive NeoLiberalism on that site. I don't necessarily like these kinds of tests, but I like how this one at least acknowledges subtle gradients rather than large categories. You can use these tests to help examine your ideals, but I wouldn't them as a basis for any kind of affiliation. - Paul
