The young maestro returns for 2020. Wearing the legendary number 10, he'll be the center piece for next season and will have big expectations on his shoulders. So far the young man has acquitted himself well, with 3 goals and 8 assists in 11 matches, including 2 goals against the Goats. 🎼 THE MAESTRO RETURNS 🎼Cristian Pavon is ready for more in 2020 pic.twitter.com/fyITFcvyhf— LA Galaxy (@LAGalaxy) November 18, 2019
I love Pavon and expect a great season from him. But hopefully he won't be asked to be our main goal scorer. Historically, up to and including his time with us, he's been a ~0.25 goals per game type of player who generates more assists than goals. "Well Zlatan won't be here, giving him more opportunities." Maybe but players have developed skill sets and Pavon's is attacking from right wing and laying the ball off, with the occasional successful shot on goal. So we still need to pick up a great forward as our primary goal scorer; if we do I predict Pavon will have another great season.
I think it depends on the system we play. With Zlatan it was just give Zlatan service, but if we play any sort of system where we are winning the ball and attacking in transition, I think he’ll score 15+ goals as winger. The question is, how well does he have to do to earn a move to Europe? Do we want him to do that well, or just not quite good enough he agrees to sign here permanently? If he plays lights out and wins MVP he’s as good as gone and I imagine we don’t see single dollar from his move to Europe.
Maybe but he averaged .25g/gm at Boca, a top team that dominated much of the league. And (on average) Arg league defenses are as weak or weaker than MLS.
Pavon wasn't the primary scorer at Boca, and I don't think he will be here. My understanding is at CABJ he was pretty much a traditional winger who ran to the endline, pretty similar to Romain. I think he could probably put up similar numbers to Romain's great season, but hopefully we have a reliable striker as well.
Speaking of Romain this is from his current Wikepidia blurb: “Alessandrini is known for his pace, getting hurt, dribbling and eye for goal from midfield.”
STATS: LA’s Cristian Pavon is close to setting an MLS record with highest percentage of involvement in team’s goals. He’s currently surpassing Zlatan#LAGalaxy #MLS pic.twitter.com/u0RaiIDDAG— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) November 4, 2020 Yes. Pavon started all 22 matches and every minute of every game. Getting a high “percentage of involvement in team’s goals” is achieved by being a good offensive player and your teammates not being able to score without your help. You have to give both parties credit - they really played their roles. I’m more impressed by Pavon playing every minute of the season. The guy came to play and gave it his all. Kudos for that!
Impressed with his fitness too. Perhaps his personal trainer should have been the teams. I think I only saw him visibly gassed like once. Although there were times he may have walked a bit on the defensive side, it was more the exception.
Report is that Galaxy has not come to an agreement on a transfer fee, therefore Pavon will return to Boca Juniors in the new year. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...fielder-cristian-pavon-returning-boca-juniors

This site is garbage. They have no facts behing their articles. Mostly it's just the wet dreams of their Mexican fans. I mean, my God, they had Gio returning to the G's and being welcomed with open arms. Yeah, right.
Pavon not included in the Libertadores roster for the semis after failing to show for practice. Looks like he's forcing his way out at Boca. ¿Fin de la historia?: Boca no incluyó a Cristian Pavón en la lista de la Copa Libertadoreshttps://t.co/y46j8HJi0N— LOS ANDES (@LosAndesDiario) January 4, 2021
