    She was brilliant, but the way it is now known how she handled Jan 6 puts her on a whole other level. She has the ability to think strategically both long term and in the immediate, and be highly successful at both. That is a rare skill.

    Looks like some serious back pedaling on MBS. It is a difficult relationship and the strategic petroleum reserve is quite low.

    This is ugly. Pissed at the Biden administration, but also at the media, and the voters who choose gas prices over democracy all too often

    Seems like to me. Interesting that he timed this for just after the election. I guess Joe figured this announcement would lose more vote from disillusioned lefties than it would get him from those who complain about his energy policy.

    No, I mentioned not liking Kennedy much because I felt he was trying to avoid taking even an implied stand on civil rights as long as possible, and I didn't much care for his approach to SE Asia which seemed naive in the extreme, to the point of getting people of both nationalities killed to no purpose. I didn't need much detail or inside info to smell that out. Or maybe I was a blind pig and found that truffle by accident.

    What I didn't know at the time was that Ike had tried to impress upon him that it should be avoided as a no-win situation, but he was so enamored of the special forces "solution" to Communist insurgency that he just had to try it out-- in the worst possible conditions.
