I read this tonight: https://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/hallelujah/sharetoken/rCdD8MFTu826 And I was reminded of this four years ago: Leonard Cohen had died on Monday, November 7, 2016, the day before the election. Later that week, Kate McKinnon, dressed as Hillary Clinton in suffragette white sang Hallelujah in Saturday Night Live's cold open. I remember watching her performance while still reeling from the election. And I remember her saying "I'm not giving up and neither should you." Here we are tonight, four years later, battered and nearly broken. We are devastated by disease, and we are dying. But Joe Biden's inauguration is a mere 11 hours away. Hallelujah
The song that captures my feelings right now is a song about a break-up, and our national break-up with Biden's predecessor brings me much joy. I can't think of any minority, whether it be racial, religious or LGBT who hasn't felt traumatized by the last four years. Finally he's gone! Hallelujah, it's a beautiful day!
First page! While you're here, we've noticed an increased trend of posts with misogyny, transphobia, homophobia, with some garden variety sexism and rhetorical calls for violence to boot. So no, we don't want to see posts of Michelle Bachman with a corndog, or derogatory comments about gay sex, or posts demeaning or objectifying women (or anyone really, especially for their preferences). For that matter, there is no need to yuck other peoples' yums at all. It'd also be kinda awesome if we'd not talk about violence, retributive or otherwise as a solution, though since capital punishment is legal - there is a legal framework for state violence. Otherwise, this is just a handy point to outline that these are TOS violations and, well, this is everyone's friendly reminder.
On Turner Classic Movies, today's daytime programming features movies with "Joe" in the title, like: "Pal Joey", "Mighty Joe Young", "The Story of G.I. Joe". Clever scheduling on their part, and they obviously never bought into the malarkey about widespread fraudulent voting.
Well, I took down the resist sign that's been in my window the last three years. Helluva great feeling, let me tell you. Next: raising the colors. Gonna hit Lowes this afternoon!
The New Radicals are reuniting for the inauguration. Now, I yield to no one when it comes to my love of their one hit. Great, great song. But I was like, The New Radicals? Really? Why not A-Ha? Turns out that their hit was special to Beau Biden during his battle against cancer, so Joe probably asked for them to play as a tribute to Beau. And now my eyes are sweaty. The whole damn world Can fall apart You'll be OK' Follow your heart
I was wondering about this...apparently Biden has a list of acting cabinet members ready to go. He kept them secret to avoid any interference from the current Trump people in office. Hell announce the acting cabinet this afternoon shortly after being sworn in while he awaits the confirmation of his actual cabinet.
It is happening people...... It is for real. The orange pathetic clown is gone and Joe Biden is about to be the 46th President! Glorious day! It takes me back 4 years ago to the Women's March and the Resistance started. Respect to all of you who are on the right side of history and participated one way or an other to the fight against racism! THANKS AGAIN!
"We firmly believe that what unites us as Americans is far greater than anything that may ever divide us," 17 House GOP freshmen wrote in a letter to Biden. https://t.co/kbxlfGA48a pic.twitter.com/qFKqkdnvSh— CNN (@CNN) January 20, 2021
You know what, I understand for tradition purpose it would have been good for the Douchey to be there, I have to say though I, for one, am pleased not so see his sorry face here.
