Pre-match: The inevitable war with Iran

Discussion in 'Politics & Current Events' started by Q*bert Jones III, Jun 21, 2019.

  1. Are you hoping for a nuke attack on Iran?

  2. Impossible if the USA doesnot give refueling support in the air, or there are kamikaze pilots in the idf airforce.

No I’m asking why you used the word nuclear when replying to a post about craters.

The US lied 33 years ago when it was at war?

That's your evidence that the US media is lying now?

    Chesco United repped this.
  7. Well, the only way Israel can hit Iran without USA support is by using rockets. I guess the load rockets can deliver is about the same, so craters will be too.
Suggesting the craters inflicted will be far bigger than the ones that did occur in/on/around a few bases, I guess can only be done by nukes.

No you can also create craters with good weaponry that doesn’t get shot down which IMO is the obvious interpretation given the context.

Not that big of a deal. Just know that word choices matter.

  9. The OP used the word great in the to be expected comparison.
Am I wrong to suppose it's about the size of the craters?
Maybe idiom I'm not familiar with?

Take it how you want. Let me know whose payroll he is on (Israel, Saudis, American) so we can quickly discredit him.

And now it's out in the open. The radicals aren't even pretending that they're just the armed forces.
They're ready to go several steps up the ladder if Israel hits Iranian territory.
This is incredibly unusual… Iranian media is reporting that the Swiss Ambassador to Iran was summoned so that she could be warned about the consequences of a potential Israeli military strike and US involvement in such a strike.
However, the ambassador was not summoned to the foreign ministry; instead, she was summoned to the IRGC.
Summoning is a formal diplomatic tool that allows a host country to express a strong objection about a matter to a foreign diplomat.
I don't remember when a foreign diplomat in any country was summoned anywhere else but the host country's foreign ministry, much less the IRGC.

Also, Norway urges it citizens to leave Iran immediately. Their intel service is reportedly quite good

If the IRGC have blocked out their rivals, this is very bad for their decision-making capabilities.

Israel has a small number of missiles with such range, almost all presumed to be tipped with nukes.

Claims about what "Iranian media" is reporting should be referenced clearly to see which media they are referring to, its reliability, and aren't exactly the "best evidence" when it comes from a tweet when reports on the subject from the governments at issue (Swiss, US, Iran) are the ones to look for instead.

Warnings by Iran of the consequences of both an Israeli strike against Iranian interests, and the consequences of US involvement in any such strikes, have been delivered at all levels of the Iranian government, from the president, the IRGC, the foreign ministry, etc. Those warnings establish new "red lines" under a "new equation" covering Israel targeting not just targets in Iran but Iranian interests and assets abroad (e.g. Syria). The Israelis have publicly rejected this "new equation" and will be looking to see how they can test and undermine it.

There isn't any dispute as to who these guys were, and there has been a lot of good coverage on this from American commentators as to why it was dumb and bad. The reason why countries around the world agreed not to strike each others diplomatic facilities is we don't want our own consulates and embassies targeted. Also these facilities are crucial to maintaining diplomatic relations.

Countries like the US are potentially the biggest losers from this, and the belligerent is always going to have a rationalisation.

IMO focus on whether they were engaged in military activity violating rules about diplomatic facilities misses the point.

Since Iran has called for the destruction of Israel, I'm not sure Israel really cares what new juvenile slogan they have for how they're purportedly going to respond.

israel doesn’t care, you are correct.

But israel is the only party of the two that has actually destroyed a country though. Crying about what Iran says on that topic is somewhat hypocritical.

The active involvement of the anti-Iran puppets ruling Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Jordan in defending Israel sees them extremely nervous and worried. The Jordanian government is almost on the brink of a nervous breakdown, with Iranian dissident channels' mockery of an Iranian drone allegedly taken down by a Jordanian "princess" in 'their' air force pretty much ending any chance of a political or public future for this "princess". The Israelis and Americans have tried to highlight the role of these Arab 'partners' in defending Israel, making these accomplices to the genocidal regime in Israel fretting badly.
