This thread will serve as the central place for all things related to the COYStradamus Cup! Here's the skinny: Before each Spurs match, there will be a pre-match thread posted, which will include a poll. The poll will include 5 options for league matches and non-knockout cup matches (win by 2+, win by 1, draw, lose by 1, lose by 2+) and 4 options for knockout cup matches (win in regulation, win in ET/PK, lose in regulation, lose in ET/PK). You will receive 3 points for each correct prediction. You will receive 1 point for a correct result (if you pick win by 1 and the actual result is win by 2+). Exact picks will be the first tiebreak, followed by correct result picks. If we need a third tiebreak, we'll have a one-off match at a neutral venue...or a coin flip. You can see the standings HERE. I will update them as quickly as I can after matches - it's mostly automated, but I do have to enter predictions and results. Good luck and may Spurs win every match by 2+! There may or may not be a prize at the end of the season.
I'm not quite following, what would that measure, exactly? I'm still building out the advanced stats tab, so it sounds like something that can go in there.
hmmm ... ... maybe ... Sf = A - B A = lowest reasonable expectations B = actual accomplishments Granted, I'm not sure how to quantify 'A' ... but I do know that a bit of the Pochettino era* was the only negative Sf in the last 30 years.** *unless, of course, 'A' included a trophy - which, with that squad, it might well have - in which case we'd probably have to go back to the Burkinshaw era. **sigh** On second thought, factoring Spursiness might not be much fun, after all. **scratch that. After a moment's thought, it occurs to me that 2009-10 definitely had a negative Sf. We finished 4th ... under Harry Redknapp! Whoever would have thought?!
Since this is a Spurs forum, any talk of A + B has to include a V (AVB), where V is the Variable factor (like Lasagna-gate for example). AVB = 4-3-3
Save yourself, Golara! Make sound predictions and give yourself a chance. Leave me to my fate. It's no worse than I deserve.
Unfortunately, when it comes to predicting Spurs results, logic, reasoning and statistical trends are about as useful as am umbrella in a monsoon.
It's been a bit crazy here lately, but the standings are now current as of pre-Chelsea (11/27). Link still in top post.
I made the mistake v Everton of factoring my hopes into my expectations. The Footballing Gods have a 40+ year track record of swiftly and severely punishing such impertinence. I have henceforth modified every COYStradamus prediction since to be the worst possible outcome for Spurs. We now* sit atop the table. A lot of people are crediting things like Mourinho's management and the players' execution. I know better. *ok, a couple hours ago. But we will again if we can get as much as a draw tomorrow.
Philly is applying pressure at the right time. As per usual, the holiday stretch may determine the victor. Also, just asking out loud, if there were a prize, what would you like to see? Something reasonable, of course, I'm not buying a season ticket or owt for the winner. This nightmare fuel will not be considered.
You're not going to believe this, but I'm not that bothered. edit: actually, if I'm honest, I probably am. A prize is pretty cool for any game, and a really good one here will might make me wish I'd played it differently. So make it a used Kleenex or something.
I'm with pook, not that important. But a donation to a Spurs supported charity c/o BigSoccer Spurs supporter [username] of the winner's choosing. Or what ever our group name might be. https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/the-club/spurs-cares/our-charities/
If there isn't a poll/thread posted a day before, as long as one gets posted, I can take results from it.
I'd be flying up the table these days, if only ... Well, either that, or Spurs would be getting better results.
Like our fast start to the season, the Coystradamus Cup has fizzled. Once again I blame Mourinho - I blame Mourinho for everything: covid, the Capitol Hill riots, climate change...
