More right wing, a more wing nutty TP version of cantor. Unless you can prove me wrong go ahead.

I have no idea what he believes. I'd check his website, but the server is apparently on hamster power.

You called him a "bigger nut". Cite positions.

Cantor lost that is a political earthquake my friends. The TP is alive and well at least in GOP primaries.... Immigration reform is DEAD

Off the top of my head, my guess is probably not, since it looks like this guy is likely to win the race in November and likely be as big a thorn as Cantor was (though obviously not from such a high position).

He ran to the right of cantor mainly on the immigration issue stating that cantor was going to give amnesty to the undocumented. He is an economic professor so he may not be a complete loon but it seems to me that cantor loss had more to do with local VA internal party politics (a power struggle with the TP over who would control the state party and it's operations). I guess all politics are local.

That was my thinking. Given the tea party losses in other primaries Boehner's much more likely to be able to control his side of the aisle and get a more biddable majority leader...

I don't know what credit I give to him being an economic professor. After all, Obama was a constitutional law professor, and look how that turned out.

I finally got his website to load and on immigration, he says this:

An open border is both a national security threat and an economic threat that our country cannot ignore.

Yep, that's terrible, so I guess Cantor was better on that issue.

On the other hand, he says this:

The federal government’s abuse of our freedoms has spun out of control. Whether it is the NSA violating our 4th Amendment Rights by collecting phone records, the IRS violating our 1st Amendment rights by targeting conservative organizations, or President Obama violating our 5th Amendment rights with the indefinite detention of American citizens, our freedoms have been under attack and they must be restored.

So on that, he's not nutty at all, unlike Eric Cantor and Barack Obama.

    Fact Check Verdict: leaning false.

There's always a chance, but Romney won it by 15+ points. This starts out as Likely R, but could move to Lean R.

I wonder if he still runs as an independent, though.

All he is doing is spitting out platitudes and rhetoric. You as a right leaning individual will of course eat that up. I'm glad cantor loss he was a complete douche and I'm glad his creation has comeback to haunt him. But I realize that is replacement is probably a bigger wingnut then he is. At least this new guy will have no power.

I don't know if it's true, but I saw on TV that Virginia state law prohibits primary losers from running in the general

You don't get to keep calling this guy a wingnut based on your feelings. This is not a fact-free zone.

If you want to so categorize him, argue your case. You've said this three times now, it should be a slam dunk. Otherwise you're trolling.

Being demagogic on immigration to me is being a nut but that is just me. He hammered Cantor on raising the debt ceiling and ending the government shutdown which sends the message to me he is a irreconcilable, no negotiation , obstructionist who believes government needs to be starved from within. I consider that a wig nut but if you subscribe to those crazy policy positions I guess you will ride the Brat train.

    That's fair.

How would you describe a candidate who believes that the NSA should have virtually unlimited power, that the United States can drop bombs on anyone it wants anywhere it wants on one man's say so, that the United States can go to war solely on one man's say so, and that the Drug War makes sense. Are those positions "crazy"?

The biggest winner is Randolph Macon College. The Democrat leader (I think the Dems have a run off primary now) is also a professor there.

Bratt sounds a lot like the next Michele Bachmann. If this district is as solidly R as is/was Bachmann's, there won't be much of a chance of any Dem getting elected. The House is in a hellish state right now.
