Okay, which one of the 7800 Randy Johnson rumors should I believe?

Believe the one that's got Moorad playing everybody.

He's just floating rumors to get the most out of whomever he finally milks.

Bay area radio is reporting that A's pitcher Tim Hudson is demanding a contract extension prior to the start of spring training or he'll "leave after the end of the season."

Good to see the Phillies are getting younger. Wells, Lofton, Sandy Alomar Jr?

    I hate Ed Wade.

Colorado terminates Denny Neagle's contract for his Hugh Grant moment:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1940090

Clearly, they're voiding the remaining $19M owed to him because of his solicitation arrest, and nothing to do with his performance.

To be fair though, although this is clearly a way of getting out of a bad contract, it's in the contract, and Neagle should have known better.

Think of the money they'll save by powering the stadium by harnessing the wind.

What's worse, that or having Dwight Smith as your baserunning coach?

    Run until you're out.

Those were the days when Dwight Smith and Jerome Walton were the future of the Cubs.

    And don't forget Dougie Dascenzo

How Dascenzo didn't lead the league in walks is beyond me.

Indeed. We offered 4/60. He ended up with 1/8.

    Smooth move, ExLax.

Evidently Alomar isn't happening, since we resigned Pratt. The Phils did offer Glanville arbitration, so it's good to see the youth movement is still in effect.

Yeah, we resigned Pratt, and yesterday Cormier as well. I didn't know about Glanville, but he can keep Lieber company on the DL if we wind up getting him. I'm already very negative about next season.

I think Lieber is a quality move, if they sign him.

Bay Area hacks are reporting this morning that the A's and Braves are discussing a Tim Hudson-for-Marcus Giles deal. Braves officials confirmed there are discussions.

********. Guess they doubt being able to re-sign Huddy after next season. Otherwise, I'd get rid of Zito first.

Regarding Giles, I have no idea what happens to A's 2B Mark Ellis, who's pretty good, but was injured all last season.

O's fans are talking about a similar trade, involving Jerry Hariston at 2B, one of their young outfielders and a pitching prospect for Hudson.

    Glaus--4 years, 45M to AZ

This completes one of the worst trades in the last few years. Obviously they've officially given up on Sexon returning.
AZ was high on rookie Chad Tracy last year. Do they move one of them to first and try to get someone to take Hillenbrand off their hands?
Glaus is only 28. If he beats the injury bug, it could be a good signing, but that's an awful lot to risk for a team that is strapped for cash.
