    Sorry mate ...
    play making is an "art" and kinda "born with it talent" ... that CR7 does NOT have
    If he is a playmaker type he is already one , or called one... (by now or "8 years back" )OK?

    You can not just give a few good games/actions and label him ... as I could also give many many more for Messi, Benzama, Di maria ... or Iniesta ... but I do not even consider them as "play maker",

    We can call CR7 *those moments or all the above as "creative FW" or they all do have a good vision as FW

    ============================================
    Pele Cruyff Maradona Di Stefano Platini Zico ... or Zidane Riquelme Ronaldinho ... are all "play maker " type, for they were born with it, live with it, and play it that way for more than hundreds of games (at least 500) ... not a few moments

    It is way off-topic. I will post my last opinion about this. Frazier is an effective inside fighter and that hurt Ali badly. On the other hand, Tyson never had such a fighting style. Tyson being similar to Frazier is they are short and have powerful punch but they have different styles of fighting. You can't use Ali vs Frazier to conclude the fantasy match Ali vs Tyson. Tillis is Ali's style with less power, speed and weaker chin.

    40 more possessions A GAME in the final third is significant.

    Why do you think Messi has more dribbles and key passes? He has 40 more opportunities A GAME to attempt them.

    that's true - Barca left a record all time for possession in liga (300+ games consecutive with minimum 70+% possession)
    definitely Messi got more advantage there than anyone else

    But Real of CR7 also had very good possession in average (60+) like Bayern, Arsenal, Mancity

    So C.Ronaldo only has almost the same amount of goals, because he takes more than twice the chances than Messi?

    Tell me then what they can do that Cristiano is incapable of. You obviously never watched him with United on any regular basis. His influence was on every possession and he orchestrated the attacks.

    I've stated my case and provided evidence to Ronaldo's play-making ability. Now its time to provide evidence of what makes them greater than Ronaldo. Anecdotes and romanticism is not going to suffice any longer.

    Don't bother comparing C.Ronaldo to Messi then.

    [IMG]

    Spot the best dribbler, and the average dribbler. And that's with being marked at least twice more than the next one.

    Let's compare the distance of Ronaldo's outside the box goals to Messi's.

    I'd love to hear you desperately argue that 19m is actually further than 35m.:thumbsup:

    a lot
    Platini Zico and Zidane or Maradona could do well as control MF (a la Xavi) in rythm , tempo, cohesion between DF to MF to FW ... that CR7 never had to do - at leats we never seen his "ability" in such thing

    Now, in direct assist to goals or passing general, those 3 were much better than CR7.
    - in thruballs, Zico Zidane and Platini were tops (10)
    - in long pass, high crossing in Platini, Zidane and Zico were also TOP10 in that order.
    Here CR7 won;t make TOP50

    =======================================
    CR7 is talented FW ... but his ability is more of a forward = a threat to goalscore, set piece and header ... his passing is just above average!

    Messi is better in passing than CR7, but CR7 is better in aerial and setpieces

    Making trivial comparison just to argue, why?

    Messi is the best goal scorer, passer and dribbler in football history, C.Ronaldo is an average passer and dribbler, and a good goal scorer.

    in shooting, Messi is more efficient (clearly in short range) and arguably better in long shots (at least by STATS) than CR7

    lol well considering he died in '93 you would think so (but you are right I was asking for the year to get perspective on how he viewed Maradona/Platini/Cruyff in comparison with Pele actually)
