Yes, the poster who sets up the annual "Merry Christmas, shitheads" thread takes himself far too seriously. Ya got me.
I would say the same about people that still believe in religion, but banning them would be to difficult.
The problem is defining what the 'denier stuff' actually looks like although, In this guy's case, it seems straightforward enough. Having said that I think banning is rather pointless... just let him drone on for a bit, ignore him and he'll get bored and eventually go away. If some wants to have a conversation about the actual damage done by any specific amount of warming we can't really deny that because, tbh, that's what scientists are doing. Likewise if someone says that climate change can be reversed I'd be interested in hearing any proposals. Also, let's be honest, it's not like we suffer from too much of it in this thread so I'm sure we can all grin and bear it for a little while, can't we?
But really - what is the point of posting obviously incorrect stuff like that? You could spend 10mins googling to discover it was nonsense.
Great idea .. There have been at least five major ice ages in the Earth's history (the Huronian, Cryogenian, Andean-Saharan, late Paleozoic, and the latest Quaternary Ice Age). Outside these ages, the Earth seems to have been ice free even in high latitudes; such periods are known as greenhouse periods.
Inconvenient Science: NASA data show that global temperatures dropped sharply over the past two years. Not that you'd know it, since that wasn't deemed news. Does that make NASA a global warming denier? Aaron Brown looked at the official NASA global temperature data and noticed something surprising. From February 2016 to February 2018, "global average temperatures dropped by 0.56 degrees Celsius." That, he notes, is the biggest two-year drop in the past century. "The 2016-2018 Big Chill," he writes, "was composed of two Little Chills, the biggest five month drop ever (February to June 2016) and the fourth biggest (February to June 2017). A similar event from February to June 2018 would bring global average temperatures below the 1980s average." Hiding The Evidence There was the study published in the American Meteorological Society's Journal of Climate showing that climate models exaggerate global warming from CO2 emissions by as much as 45%. It was ignored. Then there was the study in the journal Nature Geoscience that found that climate models were faulty, and that, as one of the authors put it, "We haven't seen that rapid acceleration in warming after 2000 that we see in the models." Nor did the press see fit to report on findings from the University of Alabama-Huntsville showing that the Earth's atmosphere appears to be less sensitive to changing CO2 levels than previously assumed .
This crap has been debunked before. https://climate.nasa.gov/blog/2893/nope-earth-isnt-cooling/ Seriously?
Statistics can be manipulated that’s the concern ... who do we believe?! I’ve seen all these reports of Victoria Falls ‘drying up’ seemingly due to global warming .... yet Sky News also threw in there that they had relatively recently started syphoning off millions of gallons daily - to use in the production of electricity ..
I’d be more concerned with her mental / physical well being .. Stress is a known killler and she looks stressed 24/7. ..365
Please point me to the scientific studies proving God doesn’t exist. As a side note, I understand agnosticism. Really, I do. I think atheists are unrigorous thinkers.
That isn't misusing Stats though - it's simply a logical fallacy Statisticians invented statistical significance and the rule against cherry picking for a reason You will often see "global cooling" after a record hot year, but of course the trend is till upwards not down.
I have no doubt that man is responsible for much of the rise in CO2 and climate change. What I question is the dire predictions and hyperbolic rhetoric. If you go back and review all the predictions for the earth's future going back to the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's and we shouldn't even be here to debate what our course of action should be.
That wasn't an insult, it was just a straight up description of reality. You've said stupid, ignorant things, so therefore you were called stupid and ignorant. And I was just 17, you know what I mean.
When you get some common sense from experience you will hopefully refrain from calling people with differing opinions and ideas stupid and ignorant .. ..
Thanks man, I recently got my driver's license and my first **************, so I'm well underway! And what would you call somebody who had the opinion that the earth was flat?
Oddly enough , i actually gave my opinion on the matter just yesterday in a separate thread ... and you’re mistaken as it happens
