I do not know how your post relates to my post since I was talking about the World Cup and Euro Coverage which is more than likely going from one TV channel to the other.

Well, the backdrop of the discussion was the package of rights that are rumored to be moving from ESPN to FOX. So scope of discussion was certainly bigger than Euros and WC but maybe I didn't pick the best post to "quote" (even though the post I quoted was quoting a post about soccer coverage in general ;) ).

But who is to say that FOX won't put more games on real television channels since they are trying to hype up international soccer for the aforementioned World Cup 2026?

ESPN was just pigeon holing recent matches on ESPN+.

Well, I did not think FOX would purchase rights to Copa America/CONMEBOL Qualifiers and put it on real TV...
...and they did/ are planning on doing it it. So they have set a precedent.

And with the way Euro Qualifiers are set up all staggered now there's really not too many great matches going on simultaneously so that helps. Crappier games will be on Fubo I assume.

It's 2021. Streaming is "real TV".

Not sure how taking the Euros and Euro qualifying off a service that most soccer fans have and is affordable, which provides an excellent streaming product and has easily accessible archives is any kind of "win" just so there can be a few more matches on cable with whatever clowns Fox trots out for coverage, and to reduce our choices for viewing the non-marquee matches by either ignoring them or sticking them on a service which 1) we'll have to pay extra for, and 2) currently has nothing else to offer.

    Everyone is different.
All I care about are a good handful of good teams each match day on "real TV" channels on my Dish.
The minnows can be on Fubo for all I care but I know others will not like that.

The deal is official, and it seems that the excess UEFA matches will be placed on the Fox Sports betting apps "complementing the user experience of these platforms." Games might still be subcontracted to Fubo, but the home streaming base for non-marquee games will be FOX Bet and FOX Bet Super 6.

Which is essentially a blackout in states without sports betting.

“The network’s six-year agreement includes rights to the following events in all languages (except Spanish and Portuguese)”

I watch in Spanish when the matches are on Fox anyway. So it’s no loss for me since I wouldn’t have watched their English language coverage, be it on liner or steaming.

Was able to get through the La Liga BeIN era the same way. Haha

    The fox crew is garbage.

It's almost like they had a paywall website that didn't involve regional restrictions or betting.

So I see FS1 is showing the WC draw, but only allocates 30 minutes (starting at 1:00p EDT) on Friday afternoon for it. I seem to recall in the past that the show is much longer than that. Also, the start time seems off by one hour, since its starting at 19h00 Qatar time (isn't that noon EDT?).

    Anyone know what's going on?

Also amounts a form of pay per view since you have to place a bet on the game to watch it (although it sounds like there might be some games accessible by playing the associated Super 6 - which, IIRC, is free-to-play).

My guide currently says World Cup Draw pre-show.

FS1 is showing Skip and Shannon.

And just as I go to post that, the draw show started at 11:30. My guide had it starting at 11.

For those hoping that FOX would bring in some top-notch talent for this year's World Cup, it doesn't look good. New tournament, same muppets. I suppose there is still time, but today seemed like a good opportunity to introduce your new talent if in fact you were going to have some.

The coverage of the draw was just over-the-top US-focused with zero insightful analysis. I know we are in the US but, newsflash, the country is pretty diverse. Especially when it comes to the soccer-viewing audience (not all of whom have Spanish as their first language). And diverse or not, I don't think any country's coverage of the draw would be so narrowly focused on themselves.

With the WC being held in Qatar (translation: I'm not going), I may have to finally research getting a VPN (or whatever they are called). Any recommendations? Something that will give me access to the Canadian channels showing the WC (that must be cheaper than the British channels).

I can't do 28 days of FOX. :alien:

Has Fox decided who the commentators are going to be?

Very important and sensitive matter for real hardcore football fans.

The problem is that we need to be careful what we wish for.

The last time Fox brought in new "talent" for soccer, we had to listen to Gus Johnson scream about players shooting balls from 40 yards out and going over the cross bar by 10 feet.

It's a shame they can't get the service that used the faceless names that would commentate Fox Sports World games. "And it looks like we're all set for kickoff. Let's go to our match commentators ..... and ....."

If it was up to me every game would have an international service (whoever it is now, ITV, BBC, whoever) on Fox Soccer Plus. I wonder if that would be a good business practice. Would people be willing to upgrade and how many would do it?

They could also easily run natural match audio on the Fox Sports app/website for everyone in the USA. Sadly, those days of "natural match audio" are done except for when ESPN does one of their megacasts.

    Gus Johnson disaster.
Ah yes, the old faceless names was and would be my choice if not using the world feed.
Commentators are getting better here in the State, but it’s still a work in progress.
Better then the days of trash like Roger Twibell, Jack Edwards, Dave O’ Brien, they were incredibly bad. Shambolic of ESPN to have them.
Fox Sports World had Christian Miles who was so awful. One of the worst. He had no idea that the ball was round.
