Needless to say 2 Fire alum. Additionally, LAFC's GM is Thorington, another alumni of the team.

Reading the title of this thread wrong intentionally.

If you want some good sports stuff to watch, look up Jon Bois' videos on Youtube. They're really well made and incredibly fun to watch. He does a couple of series called "Dorktown", "Chart Party", and my favorite "Pretty Good". I think he also recently started a new series called "Fumble Dimension" where he essentially breaks sports video games for the audience's amusement. His delivery is fantastic and his writing is excellent. Highly recommend for quarantine viewing while you wait for any kind of sports to come back.

They were supposed to show a live game from Turkey on BEIN but now even the Turkish league has been suspended. They did show a repeat of a prior game.

Watching a game on espn+ Western Sydney vrs Sydney actually played in the middle of last night because of the time difference in Australia. No fans of course. Australia must be the last country playing at all.

    Bayern v. Frankfurt
    German Cup Semifinal

Not much more than a training session in the first 69 minutes.

    Frankfurt ties it up.

Second half much better than the first! Frankfurt at least made it close. Better than yesterday's Saarrucken - Leverkusen match. I guess it wasn't realistic to expect a team from the Regional League (4th Division) to compete versus a Bundesliga side. With no fans it definitely feels like watching scrimmages.

I know the EPL sucks but why do I enjoy those relegation battles way more than whoever wins the damn thing? Looking forward to seeing West Ham (hovering right at 4th to last above the line play Newcastle. I just like a World where West Ham stays up in the top better than one where they bounce up and down.

It's been great while in lockdown to see WC matches in their entirety that I'd never been able...or could bear, to watch.

For the first category - Womens' World Cup Final, '99 - Holy fkucballs, but Michelle Akers is a warrior.

For the second - Spain, '82 - 2nd round robin - Brazil v Italy. Like watching your childhood murdered right in front of you.

I think Michelle Akers has not gotten the recognition she deserves for being a soccer player and member of the US Women's Team.
I saw the US vs Nigeria game in Chicago in '99. She was outstanding. Of course, Mia Hamm was named the game MVP.
Akers also had a great nickname!

Holy hell! I was alive and present during that era but never knew her nickname. I looked it up and it's perfect.

She was my favorite USWNT player until the pre-knee injury Rapinoe showed up for the Red Stars.

I was there, too. Hamm deserved it, she took it VERY personally that Nigeria scored first and were otherwise limited to hacking players down. The USA reply was like a "Blazing Saddles" moment. Oh dear, you scored first? Yeah, THAT'S gonna make 'em mad.

Fun "weird" memory from that match. Want a beer? Walk right up to the stall, you're first in line. Want ice cream? Sorry, mate, that's 20 minutes minimum wait in line.

    No, just no.

I still (semi-)proudly wear my Dr. Martins West Ham jersey.
They were my favorite team back in the day.
I lived about 1 1/2 miles from their stadium when I was in London (I was walking distance to Leyton Orient, but...).

Conflicted here. Back when platform shoes roamed the earth, I briefly attended a camp run by Hank Steinbrecher (briefly, meaning that I unwillingly submitted my body to sports science for the next 5 years within the first day). My group coach was Steve Parker, who had been a schoolboy international for England and played for West Ham, later went on to coach Cleveland State. Took an instant liking to Steve, and by extension, West Ham

I also had a now departed friend who worked at A. J. Hudson's who was a Canaries supporter. We cheered for them when Norwich came back up, we'll raise a glass to them and Jen when they go down...and history suggest that we'll doubtless repeat that process.

A bit of solace in the face of the loss of Jen, was that my son really took to heart the ethic of supporting a small club. He used to support Manchester United because of Dad's shameless bandwagoning ('82). We went on hiatus when they hired the anti-christ as manager, and gave our love to Bournemouth. When United decided to reclaim their souls, he opted to stick with the Cherries. Hoping they can stay up, but it looks grim.
