I've seen several reports of the Fire fielding a reserve side in the inaugural season of MLS Next Pro, but so far I haven't seen anything about a venue, roster, kit, or coaching staff. I assume home matches would be played in Bridgeview, but the season starts in less than 2 months and I have yet to see any details about this. The senior side has been pretty bad for a long time now, but the kids are doing quite well. The u19s for the Fire won their age group in MLS Next last year, and I certainly hope those players can have a smooth transition to a well run league. Does anyone have links to a press release or any report of progress that's been made in bringing this together?
There's a thread started already. Must have fallen a few pages. No new news yet. https://www.bigsoccer.com/posts/40127181
Thanks for bringing this back up. I am more excited for this team than the senior squad. Going to a game for a senior squad game is too expensive for me and my family, so I look forward to going to some games.
I know tickets are only part of the equation but I often run across freebies. I’ll try and remember to mention it.
Appreciate it! I can afford it, it’s just I’d probably spend money on something else. I just think overall it’s too expensive, but that’s a convo for another day. Thanks.
We have a schedule!!! Home games at Seat Geek and free admission! No roster posted yet. https://www.chicagofirefc.com/news/...and-schedule-for-2022-mls-next-pro-regular-se
My first thought upon reading the headline and then seeing the name: What an amazingly creative name!!!! I hope they paid their creative consultants and design teams extra for this incredibly innovative moniker.
These matches are sorely needed for the kids. It's great that admission is free and the matches are on grass.
And being played in a real stadium (not some backwater high school field) and being streamed. Overall, I think the whole MLS Next Pro League is a pretty good idea. Also, great to see that Patrick Nyarko is the assistant coach. Great for Patrick to stay coaching the kids.
Nyarko has been an Academy coach for a few years. Worked mostly with the older kids, IIRC. I definitely agree that it's good that he's been named an AC for CF2. Guy is very well spoken and obviously very knowledgeable. Will command respect from the players. Really good call.
There is now an official page on the Fire website. https://www.chicagofirefc.com/two/ Besides the Homegrowns who don't play with the first team & academy grads they signed a half dozen other players. Official roster to be released tomorrow. They open in Orlando 2:00pm Saturday. After that, 5 of the next 6 matches will be at Seat Geek. Remember, all matches on You Tube and free admission for home games.

And ya know some of the signings like this gent are going to develop into solid MLS players. Here's hoping Omarion is the first. And Kidd did a good job with the House.
