Between that period, he played 80 games scoring 17 goals. Neymar made his debut 17 years old and a month. He played 48 games and scored 14 goals in his first season. R9 made his debut at the age 16 and 8 months. He played 21 games and scored 20 goals in his first season. And he played 26 games and scored 24 goals in his second season. He made his debut with PSV less than a month before he turned 18. He also scored for Brazil before he turned 18. The Brazilian league in 1990's was also very strong. Pele made his debut at the age of 16. He was 1957 Campeonato Paulista top scorer that same season.
Well, it’s not just any 16 yo, it’s the best 16 yo that the best scouts around the globe have been able to pinpoint. And he’s now ours, with a very very high ceiling. Doesn’t mean he necessarily going to smash it but surely something to be excited about.
