According to a little flyer I received in the mail today, at least DirecTV is reimbursing its subscribers who had ordered the MLS Direct Kick package for this season (I'd imagine that the other TV service providers are doing so as well). --------------‐‐------------------------------------------------------------------------- Regarding the postponed MLS™ season Dear Valued Customer, Major League Soccer has extended the postponement of the 2020 regular season in accordance with government regulations and guidelines recommended by health authorities. MLS™ remains focused on exploring a variety of formats for playing an entire season, including pushing back the end of the season and playing MLS Cup in December or later. We are closely monitoring the situation and are in contact with MLS™ as they plan their next steps. We are also taking the following steps for our customers who subscribed to MLS DIRECT KICK™ this season: Postpone all 2020 MLS DIRECT KICK™ charges. Previous payment(s) made toward your subscription will be credited to your account in 1-2 billing cycles. When MLS™ announces the season will resume, we will restart your charge(s), beginning with the first installment. If at that time it has been determined that the retail price of MLS DIRECT KICK should be adjusted, the amounts you are charged for the 2020 season will automatically reflect that adjustment. Thank you for being a valued DIRECTV customer. Your DIRECTV Team --------------‐‐------------------------------------------------------------------------- GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G

It’s official. Santa Clara County has approved individual workouts to begin at our training facility early next week. #VamosSJ pic.twitter.com/7HCBNNpmc0— San Jose Earthquakes (@SJEarthquakes) June 4, 2020 The @SJEarthquakes announce that Santa Clara County has approved individual workouts to begin at their training facility beginning next week. Huge first step for #Quakes74, who are the last team in MLS to be granted permission for players to train on site. #VamosSJ— Robert Jonas (@robertjonas) June 4, 2020 GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G

Considering that Almeyda’s style of play is so dependent on fitness and timing, being the last team to start practicing is going to hurt us immensely. Let’s face it, Orlando is probably going to be a debacle.
https://www.mlssoccer.com/mls-is-back-tournament Play resumes July 8!!!! Of course, (putting on my @markmcf8 hat) I expect us to get smoked since we've had less time to prepare than any other franchise, but I plan on watching every painful moment I can.
Oh - and thus ends my self-imposed exile from bigsoccer. I figured it didn't make much sense to post while everything was in a state of suspended animation vis-a-vis MLS...

Excited? Not really. Got to many other things on my mind. Will watch the games, but almost more interested in getting my money back for the home games that have/will be missed.
"Similar to a FIFA World Cup format, the tournament will feature a continuous schedule of matches nearly every day, with games beginning at 6 a.m., 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. PT. The vast majority of the matches will be played in the evening. Each team will play three Group Stage matches, and those results will count in the 2020 MLS regular season standings. After 16 consecutive days of Group Stage matches, the top two teams from each group along with the four best third-place finishers will move on to the Knockout Stage. The Knockout Stage will include a Round-of-16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Championship match, which will take place on August 11. Matches tied at the end of regulation in the knock-out phase will proceed directly to a penalty kick shootout. Click HERE for the MLS is Back Tournament Competition Guidelines" 1. 9am Eastern Time (6am PT) game? Is that a typo? No, this is the link to the explanation. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...ckoff-times-explained-commissioner-don-garber 2. I don't expect us to get out of the group stage. We will miss the Knockout Stage even when 16 out of 26 teams can qualify. 3. Atlanta and LAFC will probably get some weak teams like us in their groups. 4. PK shootout? Bring back the old school shootout.
And, as it happens, we will have three dogs watching at my house! The downside is that we won't make it out of the group stage, but I'll enjoy it while it lasts, even if I have to get up at 5:45 am to see us get hammered.
