I just discovered this groovy little study from 2012. https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/0146167212439213 Low effort thought, whether caused by getting drunk, outside pressure, or time pressure, leads to political conservatism. Now we know liberals are smarter than conservatives. That’s just science.
Dad drank himself through three wives and, as a lifetime Democrat, voted for Ronnie. So you have a point there. But my brother drinks even more and still doesn't vote Republican. Thus, your hypothesis is batting .500.
Well, this definitive falsifiable study, soon to supplant the General and Special Theories of Relativity as man's -- sorry PEOPLE:s -- greatest scientific achievement, calls for a champagne toast in anticipation of the inevitable Nobel. Or maybe a few toasts. Or the whole bottle. Heavens, just thinking about it I am getting more right wing. Hmmm...what should we pull out of the cellar?? Bollinger? Piper-Heidsieck? Or should we go all DI-verse and drink Jay-Z''s and Beyonce's favorite, Cristal?? Well, maybe not Cristal, since it was made for a Tsar originally and he CERTAINLY was a White Supremacist. Cancel that champagne!!! Quick! Let's tell Jay-Z, and maybe he'll sell us that part of the cellar now at a deep discount.
Wow, aren't we serious! I think. I'm not sure now. Anyway, ever tune into the youtube channel Veritasium? Fantastic stuff, no joke. So many great episodes -- his explanation of what a black hole looks like, in response to the recent photo taken, is one of the more astonishing clear explanations ever. This one, about the 'quality" of published research, is equally remarkable. Watch at your own risk.
The motto for the wokey leftoids so horrified about all that White Supremacist Racist Insurrectionism.... "No one knows how to suffer, quite like you!!!" Everything you would want including the obligatory key changes Barry made...well...typical
I mean, if you like it, you like it- I won't hate on you... but I still think it's waaay too sappy, and I'm not someone who's totally averse to sappy songs.
Keeping with the theme, I see. Try Spirytus. It's 180 or 190 (192) Proof. That should be "enough proof."
I have criticisms of this study! Hoo boy lemme tell you this study is BAD. Who in here can tell me how participants were chosen from among many potential participants? Was it random? Go through the rest of the paper reading the "Methods" and "Design" sections and ask similar questions. If you can answer them by reading the paper, then you're smarter than I am. In study 2, who were these 38 undergraduates? Were they all from the same class, perhaps? Maybe a class taught by one of the professors? Or in Study 3, maybe it's that conservatives need more extra credit than liberals, and in such a small sample they blew up the effect size? I'd also like the money to try this again, given that psychology has a replication problem. I have no doubt that right now, alcohol consumption and conservatism are linked. I have zero faith in this study's ability to tie the causal mechanisms together. Nor should any of you.
