Yeah if this is real they can fuck right off with that. I'm not supporting that shit, even if Joey is throwing cash at everything.
Falls in line with the concept of a “soft” rebrand (name changes but star element/colors remain the same), but I can’t imagine why they’d change the “C” at all, much less to a dime store version of the Cubs logo. Personally I think it’d be fine to ditch navy for Chicago blue while they’re under the hood, but who knows what the real plan is and if this is even remotely real or not.
[shudders] Though who here wouldn't be surprised to see a broadcast deal on the new Cubs Sinclair broadcasting station. [shudders again].
The more I think about it, the harder it is to believe this rumor of a rebrand is true. If it were, why did they go through all the trouble to do the “Fire on the Mile” pop up shop and jersey reveal party?
I wouldn't too much thought into it other than a nice thing JM did for team publicity. Wouldn't take any effort to launch "City on the Mile" next year. Hell, he could have seen dismal sales figures from it and said "OK, no one in this city actually cares about this brand. Let's blow it up and start over."
I've considered the Chicago City name could be "phone chain"confusion. you know " tell your mother hello " turns into "grandma is a hoe" . Chicago Municipal could be turned into Chicago City in someone's mind and then passed around. Rahm is buddies with Mansueto supposedly , and aldermen have been known to change their minds post election.
If that "leak" was somehow not fake (which I doubt), they could actually make it not suck by keeping it closer to the secondary logo that the Fire have been using more and more lately that pulls from the original badge. (pretend it says "Fire" instead of City.)
We will have to see whether there is any truth to this rumor or not. Funny none of the media picked up on this at all not that they don't usually ignore the fire anyway.
The Athletic (Tenorito) said he confirmed the rumors and The Sun Times has a story up already too based on Tenorito's report.
I thought about filing one again, but I can wait for an actual announcement, if there is an announcement.
Uh, FWIW, I just googled "Chicago Fire" aaaaand, it's completely different than it was two days ago. The side banner is for the soccer club and the Google-made info tab is at the top. The first actual result is still the TV show, but the Fire site is there too. Some work being done behind the scenes?
Did you google it from a different browser or machine? I'm on my work laptop now, but I sync everything from Google Chrome across all machines. When I google Chicago Fire from Chrome, which knows me and has my synced info, only info about the team shows up in the top tab (scores/schedule) and side bar (wiki info), nothing about the show. Same laptop, but when I google from Firefox, which I'm not signed into and have not googled from before, I get nothing but the show, top tab and sidebar, and the only mention of the club is in the last of three embedded tweets after the first search results (the show on the NBC site), the first two of which are for the show. Basically, I doubt there's anything going on behind the scenes so much as I suspect your browser(s) are learning from your browsing habits that you don't give a rip about the show.
No, same one. And my search history has surely outed me as a soccer guy since the days of AltaVista and Ask Jeeves. That being said, I have no idea how any of this back-end analytics stuff works, perhaps you're right.
So if this happens. Does Hauptman, NRod and Pauno make the move with the team? No, No, and No Joe buys out Hauptman, Joe hires Peter Wilt as the new GM/President and Peter Wilt goes and gets Bob Bradley back to coach the team. #ChicagoFire2020 #HauptmanOut #NRodOut #PaunoOut #PeterWilt #BobBradley
