It's been pointed out by posters on the N&A forum as well, definitely not just me that's 'bothered' by it. You're deliberately choosing to "abbreviate" his name this way (of the many ways one could "abbreviate" it), so if you're not sure what the implications are, then maybe you should stop? I don't care if you keep doing it or not, hence the deleted post- honestly, this is a forum that I actively participate in that still qualifies 'the mods suck balls' as witty banter (and I have probably at one time participated in said banter) so I was mostly hoping the deleted post escaped noticed because this thread (of all of the threads in this forum) wasn't really where I wanted to dig in on this topic. You keep insulting someone whose name itself is already an insult (no need for abbreviation) in this forum as you see fit, friendo.
No lie - when I deleted my post last night, this is what I put in the "Reason for Deletion" text field.
I remember back when that was a Circuit City, and the Planet Fitness was still Caputo's. And there was Stavro's II Gyros further north at Schubert Ave, with an Italian grocery store across the street from it that always smelled divine whenever we'd go there to get Garbage Pail Kids, because somehow that was the only place in the neighborhood that had them. But anyway, yeah, Caputo's is great. Oh ********, also, I'm old.
The best part of this thread is the general consensus of "DON'T YOU TALK SHIT ABOUT ALDI!" I too miss my free milk.
Their chili lime taquitos are better than Takis. We used to donate the milk coupons to the food pantry at church when Jiggs was volunteering in his Confirmation days.
I believe that had nothing to do with the spelling of his name. It was because I added #HauptmanOut to most of my posts.
Yes, I used to go to the very smelly Caputo's, where the (I am sure not at all smelly) Planet Fitness is now). It was a Circuit City on the corner. I had completely forgotten that.
There's probably a remodel coming to an aldi near you. The churro donuts from the bakery are awesome and are the only sweet food we can bribe my daughter with. She's like me as a kid and only wants grapes, oranges, blue berries and other fruit.
Of course, we all know how the term "Second City" popped up. Back in the 1950's, some effete a------ New York critic was going on about how civilization and culture was centered in New York and how anything west of the Hudson River was a wasteland. Someone asked this idiot "What about Chicago?" His reply was "It's just the second city." Chicagoans being an enterprising lot proudly adopted the intended put down as a badge of honor. Some former University of Chicago students even went so far as to change the name of their fledgling comedy troupe from the Compass Players to to "The Second City". The rest is history. To this day, Chicagoans still use that moniker as a put down for those privileged Left and Right Coast jerks that engage in that kind of warped coastal mentality.
After that disaster of a press conference, it is clear as day that the rebrand's main purpose is to purge the current fans. I am expecting 1) New team colors 2) Sector 8 will be dismissed and a team owned supporters section will be formed. 3) Maybe even a name change to something like Fire FC or Fire United.
I’d be shocked if the word “Fire” was included at all in any rebrand. More likely they keep the badge exactly the same and just drop the word “Fire” and replace it with “Soccer” or “SC” We would go from “Chicago Fire Soccer Club” to “Chicago Soccer Club.”
