No longer controlling their own destiny, the Fire need a little help. In no particular order. 1. Get Dipsy signed this week. 2. Dallas to lose at Colorado on Sunday so they are fired up to... 3. (Dallas) Beat Metro on Thursday night. 4. San Jose to whup Columbus at Spartan next week. 5. Fire to get at least a tie with LA next week at Naperville. 6. A DC-NE tie, so they kinda slow each other up. That would set up... 1. Fire and C-Bus tied going into the final home and home, with Fire holding the 2-0 advantage in head-to-head in the event of a split. 2. Two-game death match between Metro and DC. A sleepless night (typical of my Soccer Saturdays this year...90th minute goals do that to me), helped me figure all this out. Gut feeling is that the first team to 40 pts. wins the East, though 39 (a win and two ties for the Fire) might be the real Magic Number. At any rate, the final three games are huge...for a lot of teams.
Isn't the Fire somewhat controlling this bit? I'm totally against the idea of the season being out of our control and I'm trying to bring some control back to us. I'm considering going to all Metro games and cheering them on for the remainder of the season, that should make them drop...
He's probably tripled his price over the last two matches seeing how ineffective our offense can be. We look like we're desperate for him.
Re: Re: The Call For Help (R) Never has the word "somewhat" been more meaningful. The Fire have some say, the player/agent have some and the league office has some.
Re: Re: The Call For Help (R) He has to get a work visa first and who knows how long that will take and then the fire probably will have to clear up cap room. Yeah we can beat ny but no one else. Unfortunately we don't play ny again.
Re: Re: Re: The Call For Help (R) But my cheering for NY should make them lose against anyone they play. Seems to have worked whenever I go and cheer for the other teams...
Re: Re: Re: The Call For Help (R) Cap won't be an issue once the visa and the contract are taken care of...Dipsy is a U.S. college player and won't be making much if he signs. Looking on the bright side, the Fire do hold the tie-breaker on all the teams they are battling with for seeding...If they can get six (maybe even five) points in their final three games, Columbus and Metro will have to really pull off some major wins on the road (Metro at Dallas, Columbus at SJ) to finish first in the East. Hey, I tried.
Re: Re: Re: The Call For Help (R) I think we'll sweep Columbus 4 - 0 for the season. We already have beaten them 2x this year and one of those was with RING guarding the onion bag with our B / C squad against their A - squad. GO FIRE GO!
