I have to apologize to everyone in this forum. I made far too much of this news item. It turns out Musk said the exact same thing back in 2019. And in the years following. So there was no reason to make this oft-repeated meaningless fluff into something worthy of a post on BigSoccer, which would consistently have higher standards than places like Reuters if it wasn't for idiots like me who get taken in so easily. I'm sorry.
I'm still waiting for him to acknowledge and explain why a couple dozen monkeys died during the animal testing phase of this chip.
Eels getting an empathy chip? Musk also said he plans to get one himself. "You could have a Neuralink device implanted right now and you wouldn't even know. I mean, hypothetically ... In fact, in one of these demos, I will," he said https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2022/12/01...es-big-claims-but-experts-are-skeptical-.html
I seen a lot of this new marvel lately and read some of the ways it can be used. Some scary uses being tossed around as Skynet is slowly taking over. A chatbot or chatterbot is a software application used to conduct an on-line chat conversation via text or text-to-speech, in lieu of providing direct contact with a live human agent. Wikipedia
Taibbi destroying whatever was left of his reputation to suck at the teat of Musk is fairly amusing. I bet Greenwald is jealous pretty telling what a clownshow it is there now if "everyone involved" was "surprised" that the company's dep general counsel was involved in reviewing documents prior to release. https://t.co/cwXypO27N9— Josh Marshall (@joshtpm) December 7, 2022
Tim Miller commented yesterday that many of these people are now so soaked in the right wing bubble that they've come to believe their own nonsense. Musk is in part just a liar who is good at milking twitter for engagement, but as Miller noted, he does seem to genuinely believe there is a scandal somehow there if only they can find the right email Piecing together new Taibbi revelations, it seems like Musk just thought Baker was dep genl counsel. But then Taibbi/Weiss see the name and inform him that Baker is totally a character in the Trump/RussiaRussia/Greenwald/EliLake cinematic universe. Musk says oh no and fires him.— Josh Marshall (@joshtpm) December 7, 2022
Taibbi's grift worked much better when Obama was in office and the big bad was the investment banks of wall street. Then it was easy to enhance the murky nature of that world into a full blown conspiracy theory which makes sense to the average joe, but little sense if you actually looking into how CDOs etc worked. Films like The Big Short are far more accurate. In other words this was a vast industry taking on way too much risk, but few people actually thought it was too risky - that is why the banks themselves were the ones holding vast amounts of the toxic assets. The answer is SNAFU, rather than conspiracy. But in the Trumpian era, this kind of contrarian, anti-establishment thinking became dime a dozen when the President himself dabbled in it daily on twitter. Trump is the guy who peddles conspiracies about the FBI, CIA and corrupt mainstream media, which is hardly different to what Taibbi says. So now we've reached the point where Taibbi works un-ironically for the billionaire elite class to expose the real truth LOL
Age adjusted, he is Trumpier than Trump. Truly loathsome. Speaking of which, I stumbled across a video from 13 years ago that was called "Who said it, Kanye or Hitler?" I don't follow the guy but it turns out that he has been openly unacceptable since forever. What the ******** is America's problem? He should have been on the nation's Ignore list many may years ago, rather than be invited to Awards shows and treated as a celebrity who deserves attention.
Those first few albums were pretty great and he married some Kardashian. Ain't no way he was going on the Ignore List unfortunately.
I think I stopped caring for Kanye around 2008, 2009. Mainly lost interest in his music by then. Least I can appreciate Lady Gaga now that I'm a decade plus removed from her popularity.
I can't rep enough. 99% of alleged conspiracies are SNAFUs. Each end of the horseshoe gets that entirely wrong, they think that 99% are actually conspiracies. Among the mainstream, the right of course is worse than the left, but the left is not blameless. Nor is the middle. Basically, people love to believe that 9-dimensional chess is the answer, when almost always the reality is that people weren't thinking at all, they just screwed up by making silly decisions out of habit, rather than standing back and doing proper analysis.
Yep. It's the women who figured out Kanye. They did. Pink did. Presumably Taylor Swift also did I suppose that is why Kanye attacked her.
Most people are seemingly wired to accept and venerate authority as their betters despite the lip service we give to democracy and equality. We believe that these people are powerfully secretly manipulating things instead of often ********ing up. It is also believable that the right is more susceptible to this thinking since they love authority even more than the left.
I think related to this is poorly regulated, corrupt markets ******** up often With the current PPE scandal in the UK, the media is trying to understand whether it was corruption, incompetence, or understandable mistakes in a panicked situation whereas those 3 ingredients are the perfect recipe for an epic SNAFU Twitter is effectively unregulated, so sought to create its own regulation for how to handle Trump cheating in elections.... not easy!
