Re: Who should be Newcastle Uniteds next manager? Well, it looks like Sam's not available. "The only way I would be prepared to consider allowing Sam to leave the club - and he has three years left on his contract - is if the England job came up." (or if enough money changed hands)
Re: Who should be Newcastle Uniteds next manager? As I mentioned earlier, I think Clarkie makes sense. However, since this is unlikely to happen, wait until Uncle Al scores his next goal to overtake Wor Jackie, then make him player-manager. At the very least, the uninspired play would likely end (plus Chops will get his chance, finally).
Re: Who should be Newcastle Uniteds next manager? The next Newcastle manager shouldn't be a manager at all. He should be a coach. I would definitely go full-blast so as to get Guus Hiddink. Even if it means you go into massive debt, get him. I would also hire Sir Bobby Robson for a season as Sporting Director so as to guide Mr. Hiddink or whoever it is in the British Transfer Market. I have always thought John Carver was a superb coach that I believe could make it in the big time one day. If all else fails, go and grab the hottest young manager around, Mike Newell. Whatever happens, I do believe that a Sporting Director/Director of Football is needed to steer the bruised ship that is Newcastle United.
Re: Who should be Newcastle Uniteds next manager? Hiddink rules out Toon gig That's that, I guess. Does go on to say that Martin O'Neill hopes to be back in football come May, however.
Re: Who should be Newcastle Uniteds next manager? I still would like him to coach the nats after Arena.
Re: Who should be Newcastle Uniteds next manager? Who, O'Neill or Hiddink? Guus' ambition lies with international glory, the piece says.
Re: Who should be Newcastle Uniteds next manager? It's a very quiet rumor, not even established by any news outlet that I'm aware of, more something I've read on a couple of random football sites, but some people are casually tossing the name of Sven-Goran Eriksson out there as someone FF is keeping an eye on, pending England's result in the WC.
Re: Who should be Newcastle Uniteds next manager? Of all the foreign coaches to get of course Freddy would go after Sven. Is he that much of a dumbshit?
Souness?? As a Blackburn fan who was happy to see Souness leave us for Newcastle, I couldn't help thinking "why do they want him, he will only make a club in trouble worse". With his reputation towards players he was the last choice to sort out a team in rebellion. So my question is... do you still want him or do you think Shepered made a massive mistake?
Re: Souness?? Good question. Check out this link for the answer. https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=206
Re: Who should be Newcastle Uniteds next manager? Goddam n00bs not looking around the forum, making me do somework.
Re: Who should be Newcastle Uniteds next manager? The Guardian's started the 'Souness will be sacked within 24 hours' talk again, this time with Roeder taking over as caretaker, with AS9 as an assistant. I understand the money FF would have to shell out to sack him, but surely it's less than what the club would stand to lose if they're relegated, is it not?
Re: Who should be Newcastle Uniteds next manager? Oh, and the Mirror has revived the Allardyce rumor, which makes absolutely no sense to me, but whatever.
Re: Who should be Newcastle Uniteds next manager? If Allardyce does come, I won't be going anymore. I watch football to be entertained not to watch long ball rubbish teams full of old men that grind out results.
Re: Who should be Newcastle Uniteds next manager? im surprise at the lack of votes as9 got? well, he has my vote!!!!!!!!!!!! o and isn't sven and beckham going to aston villa next summer??
The Odds Are In http://www.paddypower.com/bet?actio...arket&category=SOCCER&ev_class_id=115&id=5133 M O'Neill 7 - 4 S Allardyce 4 - 1 A Shearer 5 - 1 SG Eriksson 7 - 1 Those are the leading candidates according to paddypower. Thoughts?
Re: The Odds Are In According to Sky Sports News O'Neill was spotting in Newcastle today...probably not true. There have been 11 applications for the job so far, don't really know who though. I still want Hitzfeld
Re: The Odds Are In I read your introduction thread about Hitzfield being your man......I honestly don't know too much about him, but if he was able to manage at FC Bayern for awhile I'm sure he's up to snuff.....especially with this latest manager. I'd like to know who the 11 managers are that have applied so far.
