The Metro pix are mine-and yes, that's not from this year's USOC. It's posted somewhere in the Fire forum. RFK: USA vs Guatemala Fans on the way to Foxboro for USA vs Jamaica
One of the best Metro comebacks ever. Down 2-0 to DC at the 79th minute, Mathis, Faria, and Villegas score. There is joy in 101.
Cause were all pinko commies here in Portland But seriously - it is a Syrian flag and it is there for one of our star strikers Fadi Afash who is Syrian. I guess he had just scored. We have this thing in Portland where we hang and wave the flags of the nationalities of all of our players. Our first year (2001) we had a very international team (T&T, Ireland, Scotland, Mexico, Syria, Krgistan, Guatemala, England and of course the USA) We like to make the players feel welcome here in Portland. Our team in 2003 had a more American feel and less international so the number of flags went down but we still do it.
Yep, the original pic of the ESC I posted WAS from the USOC Final, and was taken from the right side of section 101. It was the same pic/link from the Fire boards (and it's changed there as well.) Real Ray must have replaced the original pic on his site with the new one. (http://www.geocities.com/castmind/101.jpg). Thanks for the pic in the 1st place, regardless, Real Ray. But if you could restore the USOC final pic to the above link, and rename the Metro/DC one to something else... And JerzyRebel, try decaf.
I just wanted to give props to the Portland Timber fans. Word of your expliots travels far beyond this thread(all the way to other threads). Keep up the good work.
Teams whos supporters haven't been shown: San Jose (obviously) Colorado New England Miami Tampa Bay Dallas San Jose: No explanation needed. Colorado: Lead the league last year with 20,000 average. Home of the soccer mom? To be fair, and I mean this in all seriousness...Does Colorado have a set supporter's club? New England: Having visited The Big Razor, I could see from afar that "The Fort" does not look that bad, and I am surprised they haven't been put on here. Miami/Tampa Bay: Did they have a supporter's club? Has everyone forgot about these teams that were apart of our lives for such a short time? Dallas: With Dragon Stadium's "close quarters" one would think the pictures of a supporter's club would come out nice, as the stadium is usually packed, is it not? Note: A lot of thee pics can't be shown (Real Ray, you gone done something wrong) so if one of these teams are shown, my fault.
Photos from Yellow Card Journalism Maybe not MLS standards, but the Crusaders were as good as WUSA had. Too bad they didn't want fans like us.
