inspired by the other thread (for those who couldnt figure that out ) I'm of the newest generation, dunno what you call us, x, y, z, delta? so my taste in movies tends to stay within stuff ive seen in the last few years. My all time favorites would be The Boondock saints Fight club Dogma probably expecting alot of classics like the godfather etc. from the older crowd.
The Godfather, Lawrence of Arabia, Casablanca, all are on my list, but my absolute favorite movie of all time is Raiders of the Lost Ark.
ive heard so much about raiders of the lost ark but never got round to seeing it. Oh well, this is a long summer. Im guessing a trip to the video store is in order.
Holy crap dude, it's only the greatest adventure movie ever made. Run, don't walk to the video store. They just released it on DVD about a year or so ago, so it can be appreciated in all it's glory.
Donnie Darko is my favorite movie of all time. I also like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Amelie, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Garden State and Igby Goes Down, among others. I recently saw the movie Hackers and it wasn't that great, but it was entertaining and Angelina Jolie with short black hair is hot as fvck.
Lawrence of Arabia The Shawshank Redemption Schindler's List is brilliant, but I wouldn't want to watch it often Some campy movies that most people haven't seen: Orgazmo Leprechaun IV: In Space
A few of mine (from more of the classic era of movies): Rebel Without a Cause/Giant/East of Eden (I've got nothing but respect for James Dean) Dr. Strangelove Gaslight Alfie (the original) What's Up, Tiger Lily? Sleeper To Kill a Mockingbird La Dolce vita Easy Rider The Wild Ones/On the Waterfront (young Marlon wasn't too shabby of an actor) Rear Window And Rewinder, from more of the modern era, those three you listed are at the top of my list, esp. Boondock Saints.
ZOOLANDER PULP FICTION DEAD POETS SOCIETY GOODWILL HUNTING GLORY TOMMY BOY TOP GUN CHINGU (Korean Gangster Flick) REQUIEM FOR A DREAM ANNIE HALL Just saw Joe Dirt...despite the bad press...I laughed pretty hard during some parts.
I agree. Casablanca is truly a classic. It's very girly girl of me, but I love Steel Magnolias, An Affair to Remember, Prince of Tides, and Pretty Woman. I'm surprised in this forum that no one has mentioned Fever Pitch. Guess we have talked that one to death. I still love it though. I've been on a Monty Python kick lately. The meaning of life one is such a classic.
It's a deal! LOL Although I have been wanting to watch The Pianist. Have you ever read "Beach Music" by Pat Conroy? I know Polanski's tale is attributed more to his Holocaust survival as a child and Conroy is a southerner, but it does have a very similar Holocaust story within it.
I own both versions, plus I saw the director's cut at the Inwood Theater in Dallas and I was so stoned I could barely move. Thank God they served Ben & Jerry's ice cream bars and Fiji water. A plus of Dallas snobbery.
In no particular order: Braveheart - I loved this one, just because it has some of the best speeches and exchanges ever. Sin City - Visually incredible, and really well done. Probably the best movie I've ever seen in theaters. The Usual Suspects - Great ending and great ensemble. Super Troopers - Highly underrated and hysterical. Not everyone's cup of tea, but also very quotable. Tombstone - Speaking of quotable. Also just a great Western, with Val Kilmer stealing the show as Doc Holiday. Roadhouse - Finally saw this last weekend. An awesome guy movie. And it has Terry Funk. Animal House - The most quotable movie of all time, and required viewing for anyone in or going to college. I do want to see Donnie Darko, as I've heard a lot of good things about it. But it's a bit tough to find over here.
I suppose this isnt really a movie....but the Band of Brothers HBO series is amazing. The dvd set is a must have if you're into war movies.
In no particular order and not an exhaustive list... Goodfellas Shawshank Redemption Star Wars Trilogy Pulp Fiction Jackie Brown The Matrix Lock Stock Snatch Full Metal Jacket The Usual Suspects The Life Of Brian
