After reading tons of misguided articles about Beckham's effect on attendance I finally couldn't take it anymore and decided to analyze the phenomenon myself. Most articles I read attributed any change in attendance pre and post Beckham 100% to his presence. I use a simple OLS regression controlling for which team is playing at home and which is playing away, home openers, and Beckham being on the Galaxy vs. actually playing in the game.
