We were going to head down for the cheap day at lords today fingers crossed england can take the oval to 5 days
Hehehehehe. Some classic humor in the posts above. OK, for the North American brethren starved of any video coverage, here are video highlights of the last day of 1st test: http://media01.news.com.au/foxsports/video/250705CriNewsWEB.asf
http://msn.skysports.com/skysports/article/0,,8-1191150,00.html haha! McGrath messed up in training by playing rugby and is out of the match!
Strauss dropped by Warne at 5 off Gillespie's bowling, and then Trescothick caught but a no-ball at 56. England scoring runs quite briskly.
Off-topic, how have you got to be good at it? During the last test you implied you found it really difficult (which I agree with, it's impossible). Brian Lara is so much better.
its still hard and I lose lots of wickets in a row sometimes. but i've played a lot of it and gotten better. Its easy to score runs in the test matches because the computer plays the same field for a long time and you can try to hit sixes and the ball will land in no-mans land. If you wait for the right delivery you will crush the ball, otherwise just play defensive shots. I had like a 200 run first wicket stand against the Windies with England. I still suck at the limited over matches. I always get caught at the boundry. I need to try out Brian Lara. I've heard good stuff about it.
Flintoff is out now. I just found with EA Cricket that the computer lets you get to 30 and then goes into impossible mode. It is almost impossible to hit sixes, you just caught out all the time My housemate got Lara last night and it seems quality. The only bad thing is you can't auto-bowl.
that stinks about auto bowling. the test matches i've played I've been able to rack up the runs with players and then the computer changes the field. I've had a few overs where I've hit 5 sixes.
Gilo is out now, England are 348 for 7. Pietersen has made 50s in his first 3 innings in test cricket.
where is everyone? and i know nothing of Cricket and figured 407 is a really good score, especially against Australia, but everything I've read said it wasn't that good and all this other crap. what the heck is going on. Its the first time since 1993 that a team has scored over 350 on Australia. that's pretty good I think.
400 is OK, but given the ease with which the pitch was playing, the very short boundaries and the start they got, England would have been looking to bat into the second day and get 550 or so - then hopefully not have to bat a second time. You can't really judge a score until both teams have batted. It will be interesting how England bowl on this pitch. I still think they are a batsman short - Flintoff is a spot too high. Bell is out of his depth, and Geraint Jones is neither a test class batsman or keeper. Trescothick is class and would be very disappointed to have not gone on for a big score, while Pietersen is just what they need - confident and attacking, but not a pure slogger as some expected. He can defend when he needs to. And, as I have said many times, Lee is not and never has been, a Test class bowler. They would have been better off to give Tait a go. Kasper did his usual steady effort, but is bowling too many no-balls for a bowler of his pace.
