USA: October 1 - 7:30am vs Tottenham (Premier League) - USA CAN: October 1 - 7:30am vs Tottenham (Premier League) - FuboTV AUS: October 1 - 9:30pm vs Tottenham (Premier League) - OptusSport AND WE ARE BACK! After what feels like the longest ever international delay, we return back to the EPL to start off an insane October schedule with a North London derby. A few injuries so it will be interesting to see how the team lines up. ESR is out til after the World Cup having surgery on his groin. I hear its so big, that an injury down there for him is like a giraffe with a sore throat. Partey and Tierney are getting assessed, so they are a chance of returning, and hopefully Ode and Zinc are fit and ready after a few weeks off after missing the Brentford match. Nelson might also be in the match day squad, although it seems we could be without Tomiyasu. All in all, this is a massive game and we really need to give them a solid smack for what they did to us on their dung heap at the end of last season. Spuds haven't dropped a game yet this season, about time someone changed that. 3-1 to the Arsenal is my tip. Jesus, Saka and Saliba to score.
Hey, ain't NO SLEEPIN through this one!! And that includes all you Friday night partiers and West-coasties out there... not to mention Mauies. COME ON!!! p.s. Most of the injury discussion has already been done in other threads, so just waitin for Mikel's official presser... tomorrow?
With Partey's fitness regularly in question (not to mention his future legal status), and with Elneny gone for months, plus Lokonga not quite having proved himself in that role, I found myself wondering what we might do to add a bit of defensive steel to the base of MF if Partey is out or doesn't go 90. For any game against a potent offense, before the WC break and before any January business can be done... Switch Xhaka back into that 6 role? Or move White up there (assuming Tomi can go at RB)? Or maybe Zinchenko? (doesn't he play in MF for his nation?) If I had to channel Mikel, I'd guess Xhaka is the most likely. But that takes away the great benefit we've been getting from him lately playing further up.
So, I've ranted before about how it seems Arsenal always hosts their leg of this derby early in the season, with S***s getting to host as the season gets into crunch time. I checked on ESPNFC (which list fixtures and results since the 02/03 season)... Counting this season, Arsenal have hosted the their leg of the derby first 16 times in the past 20 seasons! The most common time for the trip to White Hart Lane is around March. I don't see any other fixtures with quite so similar a pattern. It's not like these happen on a symbolic or ceremonial date, so why this level of imbalance? Why can't Arsenal get to be the host as the season reaches the run in? I hate this. Grr. Just needed to get that off my chest.
I just skimmed through Mikel's presser comments and this was my favorite bit: "on Antonio Conte saying Arsenal are a better side than last season: First of all - thank you - and hopefully we are, but the next few months will unveil that. We want to get better than we are today as well. Indeed! COYG!!!! https://www.arsenal.com/news/every-word-mikels-pre-tottenham-presser
Oh, and he gave ABSOLUTELY NOTHING away regarding player fitness, except to say that KT, OZ, Tomi & Partey are "part of the team". Thanks very much, that does nothing to quell my nervousness.
IDK Fraser Forster seems to have career games against us. I might take an 85% Lloris and hope for a gaff or two.
irritates me so much that i'm paying for peacock for league games and paramount for ECL and i still have to scramble to find a stream (or go to a pub) for various games still. ugh.
