    October 6 - 3:00pm vs FK Bodø/Glimt (Europa League) - Paramount+
    October 6 - 3:00pm vs FK Bodø/Glimt (Europa League) - DAZN

After an amazing NLD victory where we have rightfully reclaimed top spot and given "them" their first loss of the season, the games continue to come thick and fast with a match against... Erm... Bodø? Glimt?

Either way, we play Bodø/Glimt who are currently top of the group (P2, 1W 1D) and its important that we not only rotate the squad to keep people fresh for the October 9th match with Liverpool, but that we keep getting game time into guys like Vieira, Marquinhos, Sambi and Nketiah just in case we need them for significant minutes in the first team.

Hoping for a strong win, where we give some kids and 2nd string guys minutes and give breaks to guys like Jesus and Saka so that we don't burn them out.

I am tipping 2-0 to the Arsenal with goals from Nketiah and Rob Holdingho.

    COYG!

i'm assuming (big) gabriel and xhaka are going to be the 2 starters starting this game with xhaka taking the armband?

arteta doesn't seem to have the faith in smith to give him a whirl. i'm hoping the bench is a mix of kids and veterans and we get out to a big enough lead early enough to unload the bench of kids.

    So probably something like this:

    Turner
    Tomiyasu - Holding - Gabriel - Tierney
    Vieira - Sambi - Xhaka
    Marquinos - Nketiah - Nelson

Assuming ESR, Elneny and Cedric are all injured. I'm not sure Arteta will go with Nelson from the start so that could mean Martinelli or Saka starts after going the full 90 vs sp*rs.

that feels right. i hope at least 4 of the spots on the bench are kids and they can take the extra minutes to finish the game. maybe smith for xhaka at the hour. hopefully not zinchenko for tierney but one of the kids.

The Arsecast dudes basically agree with that. Specifically they named Gabriel & Xhaka as the 2 previous starters likely to be retained.

But in the end, it's Arteta who's making these decisions! And based on past his history, not withstanding the "smallness" of our opponent Thursday, I would NOT be in the least surprised if he retained as many as 4 starters instead of just those 2. Hope I'm wrong.

I really hope that Xhaka gets a rest in this one. He's been really durable, but at this point, I don't think we can afford to lose him. Not only has he played every minute so far (going off memory), but he also played both matches for Switzerland on international break.

If Arteta chooses to play Xhaka mid-week, then hopefully he's subbed off around 60 minutes with full points readily assured.

yeah, i'm hoping we jump ahead early and xhaka can get out by the hour. maybe give smith a chance.

interesting. cedric appears to have recovered.

i'm assuming that means big gabby gets a break and tomi moves inside? especially since arteta brought him up as another central defender option the other day? it'd be tomi, right? the alternative is moving tierney inside and having tomi on the left.

Not all that surprised to see Martinelli get the call over Nelson. Hopefully he doesn't go the full 90 and Reiss gets to play. Not a ton of kids on the bench with 5 subs available. Youtube TV says it will record this on Spanish language TV so going to try to avoid spoilers and watch tonight.

3 starters retained, just about what I expected. Arsecast guys nailed Big Gabi & Xhaka. I figured Mikel would retain another 1-2 and so he did: Martinelli.

It's OK by me, as long as one of those 3 doesn't get injured of course!

The question is, does Arteta plan to play Gabriel, Xhaka, and Martinelli all 9 games this month?

Doesn't seem to work on Paramount+ for some reason, so have to watch in Spanish.

The app is garbage. If you back out to the Europa page and click “live schedule” again it should work.

Eddie looks at it so far. Takes a speculative curler, just wide by a few yards.
