Hmm... I did NOT realize that. Back to Saka needing a permit for that foot... that goal was obviously absolutely HUGE for today's game, and possibly the title run. But I was thinking about how that's 2023 Saka, whereas the 2021 Saka I'm not sure would've had that in his locker. He's REALLY come on. Whaddya think?
To me it looks like Everton has just quit. They are down two, in the 58th minute, still sitting deep, no attacking energy... just waiting to be done.
Great intervention by Zinny there. McNeil shot bounces off Ramsdale's gloves, and OZ is the one right in front of him to quickly heads it out of danger.
Needs to be noted that Saka continues to get little/no love from referees for fouls called against vs. for him. Overall, this game is getting really chippy. Hopefully no injuries from this match. 62' Great save by Ramsdale and clearance of the rebound by OZ.
Saka's added a ton to his game in the past two years. Amazing to think he's only 21 and has added that much to his game. He plays with the polish of a player so much older.
Also, more impressive than the strike itself was the off the ball movement that led to the goal - Saka was consistently triple teamed on the right, so Martinelli came over and switched positions with Saka. Saka then stood in the channel, Odegaard picked the pass, and then yadda yadda yadda.
Smart subs today from Mikel, its been the only thing as a manager that has concerned me over the last few years. Rotations like this will be a big help going forward.
Everton were setup to defend well, but the moment they gave up a goal they turned into a subway turnstile.
Hope we absolutely bury this mob for that loss on their dung heap. Lets go for 6 thanks! Commentator saying "lovely ball from Zinchenko" when it was actually an insanely good ball through a small gap.
