Yup. And I thought Tavares had a super inconsistent game, but on balance poor. So to get at least one of our choice FB's back into the XI should be a big help. Tavares still concerns me for our run-in. And I bet Arteta feels likewise.
In his tunnel interview, Arteta said that 4-5 players had difficulties going into this match, including: Saka, White, Xhaka (eye?) and Eddie. Interestingly he did NOT include ESR who's been the subject of so much speculation of late. Keeping fingers crossed for Bukayo! (and us) p.s. In Ragnick's parallel interview, he literally waved the white flag for hopes of top 4. Astonishing where MU find themselves these days.
The simple fact we beat Yanited, regardless of how lucky, poor, or both we were - feels great. All those times we outclassed them only to lose by dodgy calls doesn't tinge this win whatsoever. I've had a crazy, busy, hectic month. Beating both Chelski and ManUre within 72 hours is good for my soul.
Nuno shows some flashes but i think he really needs a loan next season. Maybe to a Championship side with a good shot at promotion?
Or a lower-end Prem team where he has to learn how to defend at least a little bit. I don't see a ton of value in a Championship loan following a season in which he'll get about 1,700 first-team minutes.
Valid point. I was thinking regular starts for a team that would all around play well so that he could gain confidence. Playing for a potential relegation side where he would have to learn to park the bus could be quite beneficial as well.
A Championship side would probably just play him at wing back and not ask him to defend very much. Keep Nuno around, buy a RB and shove Cedric out the door.
I’d prefer to have Tavares loaned out to a good championship team to get minutes than to a Prem team that will be in a relegation fight. I think you learn more from winning and the pressure associated with expectations than from losing every game and parking the bus, playing anti-football.
Thanks. He's a creature of habit and likes to join his buddies at the senior center to "work out" every Saturday morning. At least I had SXM to listen along.
Can somebody give the quick and dirty on how you can lose 3 straight to Southhampton et al and then outplay Chelsea and United? Change in tactics? Formation? Players? A week ago they looked poor. Now they attack fluidly and look good.... I'm not sure how that happens.
Arsenal's defending has been pretty suspect in all 5 matches with 9 goals allowed and no clean sheets. I'd say the difference in opponents helped. This is a good counter-attacking side and less good breaking down a side that sits deep. Chelsea's defense with no Rudiger, no Tiago Silva for a half and an out-of-form Kante was really bad. United have given up 51 goals in the league this year and no Maguire or Wan Bissaka or Shaw, they were bad. Soton, Palace and Brighton were much better organized.
Nuno has shown flashes of being a very good attacking fullback he’s also had a lot of gaffes, but that’s down to experience I see a good talent in there, that will come out with experience. Although he is a bit mad with his positioning sometimes, I kind of like the anarchy and it will be nice with Tommy back as a third cb tucking in when we go left to see how that works out
I think Arsenal were fortunate today, but United quit after that Bruno penalty miss. Thats an embarrassing team. Even at our worse points, I could never say Arsenal quit. United stopped playing today.
Neither team had a shot after Xhaka scored. That’s crazy. Also, on the replay of the first goal, looks like Nuno totally flubs his celebratory slide.
The thing with this, is Eddie is standing directly behind a United played, so if Eddie wasn't there he still isn't seeing the ball. Its lucky for us, but De Gea isn't getting that. We got some VAR luck, they got luck with Bruno not being red carded. VAR being so poor the last 3 years, I am genuinely shocked when these go our way. Its so far slanted the other way.
