He does it on purpose. Thats why he has holes in his socks. Others may not. https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/exp...-cut-holes-in-their-socks/blt461f7e2aaafdcb5b
Its the worst. The other week when I was pumping up Martinellis tires it was the first of his run of poor games. Now I slant his first half, and he immediate comes out and does a peak Henry and curls it into the net off a quick break. I try to be positive but honestly maybe I will just pick a player each week so we can watch them come out, have a 10/10 game and score goals. Im waiting for Ramsdale to score from a goal kick after I sledge him for poor distribution next week.
Seeing people slant "agent Jorginho" after we lost to City, but against Villa he was good especially with that goal, and against Leicester the numbers speak for themselves...
Here is the thread. Where are those "people"? https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/t...-wednesday-15-february-2023-1930-gmt.2124662/
Not BigSoccer, where we have pretty smart users on here, I am talking about the main FB and Reddit threads. They were also pretty anti-Trossard til he came on and was a big part of the goal that beat United...
Fair enough.. I only noticed him with the holes in his calves yesterday though and he was the one who was routinely being kicked from behind from his man marker
I remember Neuer was routinely seen in post match interviews wearing his goalkeeper undershirt with the arms roughly hacked off - i presume for similar reasons though maybe also just to show off the guns? Then at some point he had undershirts apparently designed with no arms
A lot If the possession he won was from when they hoofed it to no one in midfield and often he would have open headers Gabriel was really good yesterday, he seems really quick in the flesh. Saliba seemed to win every ball too. we were good but Leicester were terrible, I couldn’t believe how deep they say from minute 1. Our cbs were so high that they were closer to their 18 years box than the halfway line at times
It is interesting though, especially considering the trend in running to actually wear tight compression socks.
I don’t know whether compression socks would benefit soccer players, or for that matter whether the benefit runners, but there is more stress on the calf muscles from all the lateral movement required in soccer. So soccer players calf muscles are significantly more developed than most runners. One of the most extreme examples of this that I’ve seen was Dunga, who’s calf muscles looked like Popeye’s biceps.
As someone who's done (still does) both sports, yeah, I'm aware of the differences in the movements. And yeah, I have no idea if compression socks really work, although doctors have been recommending something similar for people with poor circulation on long flights, for instance, so I'd guess there's some benefit. I don't know that I can personally tell a difference and usually just wear knee-high compression socks for warmth when I run in really cold weather --- because I hate running in tights unless it's ridiculously cold.
It's amazing how if you sign cover for Partey, you can win games How many years did Arsenal go without a proper 6 in the side, and then one that was always injured I think it is really since Arteta himself that we had a reliable deep lying player? I'll probably never forgive Wenger for not signing Alonso
Did you ever listen to that interview Andrew (Arseblog) did with Cesc a few years ago---I think right after he left Chelsea? He said Alonso was ready, willing, and able, and then at the last minute it didn't happen and Alonso was disappointed.
yes! I even remember where i was! Corona pandemic, on lockdown, rehabbing my knee on the wind trainer. That really annoyed me.
Wenger didn't want him at a throw away price of £17m IIRC. He said it would have ruined chances and growth of er... Denilson, Diaby and Song. That's when I knew he had to leave. Cesc I think preferred a return, but didn't we have Ozil already by then? It would have been fun to see them together but we would leak goals since they're not so great off the ball.
Agree. Compression is great for running, especially in colder climates. For soccer, I think the main reasons players like Saka don’t like compression on their calves is that affects their “feel” during the kicking motion. During normal running, you typically relax your calves as bring your leg down during your stride. But when kicking the ball, players need to tighten/flex their calves to generate more power. I can see why compression is uncomfortable, but since I’m not a world class footy player (news flash) it never made much difference for me when I played.
We sold him to Barca when they openly tampered to get him to leave us and “go home” at a dramatically discounted rate. Did we have any sell-on rights that we allowed for him to go to Chelsea? It’s been a while, so those details are fuzzy. Plus I’ve always rated the player, regardless of team he’s played for.
