When was the last small smart buy we made? Last one I recall was Courtois and it took two years for people to get behind that one.
You're arguing a different point that what we're discussing. You said we couldn't make any transfers due to the financial situation. I argued we could, we just couldn't do big splashes. In the end maybe I'm crazy (and blindly hopeful lol) but I would rather we use this situation to get Mbappe for free after next season (assuming he would hold out that long, dependent on how badly his club acts this summer regarding his sale). This would not be ideal for results though... only financials. It wouldn't be ideal for Mbappe's development either because he needs a couple years of Ramos tutelage and example to wash away Paris.
We could have signed Marc Roca as a substitute this summer and didn't. I think we're out of the mid range market and are going to either invest in youngsters or legit star players.
Courtious is/was a giant transfer, he was arguably competing to be best GK in the world. It almost instantly caused GK drama. He was not really even cheap considering he only had a year on the contract and his first season was basically a wash and he could have just come for free by waiting. A good transfer nevertheless, but hardly a case like Lunin.
I remember because we argued about this. You were against it and I just desperately wanted cover for Casemiro. I don't believe we will follow such a path this summer. For one we must sign Camavinga. Also there are cheap options like Aour just waiting to be picked up; both with contracts winding down.
For what it's worth I think 21/22 will start with fans. It seems as if vaccines will start rolling out late spring/early summer so I think the Leagues will delay the start by a few weeks to see numbers fall low enough to have a certain capacity of fans back for the start of the season. That's my positive take on the situation.
This point needs to be hammered into every fans brain. Be prepared to lower expectations drastically if we can’t invest next summer. Teams with squads who were on the upswing lucked out with this. Our squad is on the last stage of decline and our youngsters haven’t stepped up so we got unlucky with the timing of this financial issue. My hope is that Barcelona gets affected more than us and Messi leaves, that leaves the door open for us to challenge for local competitions. Atleti are on the upswing tho.
We will have fans before this season ends. I would even say by February or March. In the end money always wins and we'd have different vaccinations either released to certain population or about to be.
We don't have a right to have any expectations this season. I mean since when is it normal to have to crawl fighting to the death to win a title and expect to win anything the next year without addressing any of the glaring issues? They will be fine. They are like a cockroach. Ugh
Dude, most European countries don't look like they'll be getting out of lockdown till February. The second wave is much much worse than the first one. Germany: Nobody in his right mind is thinking of finishing the season with fans. Governments are scrambling to contain this second wave until the vaccine can be provided to the majority of the population. Germany even funded the Pfizer/Biontech vaccine and the government is pretty open that it won't reach the majority of the general public until late spring/early summer.
Remember this conversation in February. Things always initial have the grim look resulting in a more stricter protocol or reaction. Then time passes and people either find normalcy or become impatient and money prevails. This season will have fans in the stadium. These same governments you brought up will be the same ones ensuring the clubs do.
Germany has already agreed to let fans back in at an incidence value of below 30. Bayern wanted fans back in when it was 35, Munich entered a lockdown when it went over 50. Right now it's at 260. The government will announce a stricter lockdown today, Merkel said on a podcast that this will be "a winter that will demand everything from us". Nobody is talking about fans in stadiums right now with businesses closed and people going unemployed. Football's demands don't mean shit to European governments right now. The moment football has fans, you have to open up all businesses which means the situation will get out of control.
I am not speaking of right now. I am said this season with an estimation of February or March. We will look back and laugh, you know I will remind you lol.
You're lacking perspective. Things are vastly different in Europe. Gladbach's CEO on the club website last week: "We should all do our best to hold up the government's measures to prevent the spread of the virus. When everything is back open again, we'll talk about fans. Getting control of the situation has the outmost priority." I don't know a single local or state official that believes that the lockdown will be over at the end of the month. Much less that the country will be in a better shape in February than they were during the summer.
We will see next year. When I remind you don't forget how staunchly you were against the idea this will happen.
Again, you started off just like this months ago then pivoted hard. Remember this conversation and don't let hindsight detract from the hardline you took today.
If there are 2 posters that won't let you forget how wrong you were, are the 2 in this argument. I will mark this on my calendar to see who won
Imagine thinking somebody will be disappointed if the second wave is over by February. If you're asking me i'd hope everything is back to normal next Tuesday. For the time though, we're only getting even more stricter measures in Europe. I don't even want to imagine how things might be in three months.
Idk why Ramos is playing games again. Florentino needs to pay him what he deserves but all this circus stuff wont help us.
I don't think there are that many problems with the negotiations. I believe that they are agreeing with certain terms but i think that in the end he will get the extension that he deserves. Iker, Raul, Cristiano, all Real Madrid legends that left without a proper fairwell and whose treatment at the end was questionable. We can't do the same with Sergio, we need to start a new philosophy. I know that we are not a retirement club, but this goes beyond the contract extension. Even if Ramos is set to leave, he should leave through the front door with a proper fairwell. Cristiano was arguably our best player ever and all he got was a lousy youtube video.
Jose Ramos (Sergio Ramos' father): “Sergio’s renewal? I am completely sure it will happen, without any doubt”.Real Madrid and Sergio Ramos are currently negotiating the captain's contract renewal.https://t.co/pkIcdYfjUt pic.twitter.com/vh2PLD3Njb— Daily Madrid (@DailyMadridcom) November 17, 2020 Note: he said it after El Chiringuito journos surrounded him in his car lmao.
Why do we think the rumors about city are coming from Ramos’ camp? Maybe negotiations are going well and it’s complicated due to the circumstances the club is facing due to COVID and the press are putting rumors out there because that’s what they do.
💥 Real Madrid and Sergio Ramos reach an agreement in principle for a two-year extension. According to the report, deal is expected to be announced by the end of the year or sooner.
