Au contraire - this always has been the place for taking police to task, and Big Jake taking the establishment position. It's not like the personal attacks are limited to this thread (or Jake for that matter, do you read Brummie's posts?), and if we're gonna complain about rules violations - let's talk about the link dumping (not just dapip - though he gets unfairly called out for it, when others do it just as much as he does). I think we all understand there is some laxness to the TOS that happens here, and I, for one think that's acceptable. Now cue @JBigjake calling me a ********ing Canuck, and telling me to stick my nose where it belongs, and I'll be happy the order of things has been restored.
You mean somebody who identifies strongly with the police has a tendency to take things personally and get aggressive in response? Say it ain't so!
Yes, why can we have a nice conversation of how bad your mother sucks in bed, without everyone getting offended? why take it so personal?
I said "you think" and "insulting," not taking the police to task. I agree, and on occasion I'll say something, as I did here. (Yeah, that link dumping thing...) And? Did you get one of those lovely "reported post" notices? If so, you probably saw it did not come from me. I was kind of lassie faire about moderating until I needed to go Draconian. I actually like Jake being here and giving the police/LE POV. But sans insults.
Fair enough, I was adding my view on the thread. I don't get reported posts from here - thankfully - so no idea if peeps have reported them. Sometimes the insults are a bit over the top, they could be reined in a bit, but not just in this thread, the forum in general.
Hey, you already have to live with yourself; no need for me to rub it in. It's just verbal judo, not a righteous kick in the ass ...
"Here's your badge & gun, with the hope that you'll never have ... WTF?" http://www.startribune.com/local/west/289870171.html

http://www.inquisitr.com/1786390/kristiana-coignard-police-shoot/ Saying she had "some sort of weapon", lol
1. Are you ********ing kidding? 2. No, seriously. 3. The cops should always be taken at their word, mountains of evidence (that could actually be recovered/wasn't "lost") notwithstanding?
You appear to start from the POV that they are telling the truth until proven otherwise. They hold all of the evidentiary cards. They have all of the power. That is a shocking amount of credulity.
After reading that - I'd say suicide by cop is a possibility - but there is no way to say for sure that's what happened from what the article presents.
Which is why I said "sounds like." If you are going to postulate that the police blew her away for no reason, don't you need something beyond "they're all monsters, that's what they do."
Yep. I agree - though without any other evidence - I'd say three cops versus 17 year old with a knife means they've got a lot of explaining to do. Specifically: Why weren't conductive force weapons used to subdue her?
You guys do understand that Suicide By Cop means she intentionally provoked the police into a fatal action, right? Maybe she had a weapon, maybe not, but Suicide By Cop indicates that she intentionally made the police think she had a weapon, whether or not she actually did. Thus, I agree with TaosJ in that this has the reading of Suicide By Cop. But it also reads as police using excessive force. And neither is contradictory.
