Well, not to Erpen. He made Brett Favre in "Something About Mary" look like Brando at his best.

Damn, that was embarrassing. Hope someone has a word to him about that s**t.

I kinda laughed. Twellman, kinda moved near him, Erpen looked around for a few seconds and then BAM! down he goes.

I hope Erpen learns quickly that we don't go for that crap here in the MLS. I've said my piece about cry-babies on other teams; I sure as hell don't want one on mine. Don't act. Play.

Not trying to troll here, but I thought it was kinda funny that Twellman pointed to the giant replay board when Kennedy walked up to him. I guess he saw the replay and gave the card, cause he looked unsure at first.

I'll give the Academy Award to the AR who didn't call Twellman offsides for acting like an MLS ref.

Actually, it was the fourth official who informed Kennedy. While Kennedy was trying to sort things out, he didn't see one of his assistants trying to get his attention, but when the assitant couldn't, Erich Simmons (fourth official) ran out onto the field, had a brief word with Kennedy... and it was then they he pulled out the card and booked Erpen.

I thought it was good live until I watched the replay. Twellman was off. Not that it matters now, but he was off.

I guess that's it, MLS uses replays for officiating now.

The only thing missing on that replay was a laugh track.

I suggest that MLS should start a school for all new players coming from south of the US Boarder. In this school they need to teach that in US Stadia they have BIG SCREENS where such a dive will win you a trip to the woodshed. I'm sure we can also list many other things that South and Central American players need to learn just will not fly in MLS. (MEGA SMILE)

That was just about the most clueless dive I've even seen in over 60 years of watching soccer :D

Na, the one in the 2002 WC, Brazil vs Turkey (I think Turkey) was better. Cafu (Kafu?) waiting to take a corner kick, someone on Turkey kicks the ball hard to him, I can't remember if it hit him in the stomach or chest, Cafu grabs his face, yells in pain, and does his best backwards Ruiz dive. Hilarious.

    But, this one was close.

Actually it was Rivaldo, and FIFA suspended him for that stunt, though I don't know the details. That was pathetic, and that's the one thing I hate about this game

I hate it too, and I hope Erpen learns fast that that kind of stuff is out of bounds here. I was kind of surprised because my impression was that South Americans didn't do that crap all that much. I thought it was more of a Central American and Mexican speciality.

The Academy Award goes to the person at USSF that has these Refs believing they know the laws of the game.
    Now THAT'S ACTING!

The thing that made the incident you talk about not hilarious is that I think it earned the kicker a red card. It wasn't until after the game that the incident was reviewed and the situation rectified.

Luis Hernandez vs. USA in WC 2002? Romo against RSL a few weeks ago that got Mathis sent off the pitch? Carlos Ruiz? Charmaine Hooper?

That Romo incident was pretty bad.

Actually, I think Mathis may have given Romo's package a squeeze. On the following week's broadcast, Wynalda and Stone vaguely alluded to being incorrect about their villification of Romo's dive and that some camera not owned by the network captured something that they didn't see, etc., etc.
