mcbride's bike at Everton would beat all five of those choices.

IMHO John Wolynec's was the best. I would normally pick Ruiz's goal, but it's Ruiz, so thats automatically out.

McBride's second goal against Sunderland was even better imo. When I first saw it seeing McBride make that first touch almost made me *#*#*#*# my pants. ;)

    more insult to injury:

The 2000 GOY was against the Crew, in CCS. Forget the player, but the Rapids player scored a bicycle off a PK.

We also did not make the playoffs that year.

Wasn't the 2002 GOY by Ruiz against us too?

Mind if I paste this in Rivalries? It's pretty funny.

On the upside, Diego Walsh's goal should be in there. Sublime.

Damnit, we can't even finish getting picked on correctly; the most massive 80% in MLS. There has to be a fifth goal somewhere in there.

Those goals also epitomize the 2003 season for Columbus:
    • Franchino, OT game winner where the Crew cough up not just one but three points.
    • Ralph 90th minute equalizer where the Crew cough up two points.
    • Wolyniec OT game winner where the Crew cough up one point.
If you want I guess you include the Ruiz goal as it, too, was a game winner. However, from just the three goals listed above - six coughed-up points. Go figure.

I think he meant CK, but that little mistake can be forgiven seeing as how close the C and P are on the keyboard.

Same one that was my favourite. How it didn't make the top 5 is criminal. Then again, this is more of a popularity contest than a serious goal of the season poll, isn't it?

That was absolutely the best goal I've ever seen in person. Simply amazing. That is the only time I have ever cheered for a goal that came against our boys --- but, DAMN, that was a class goal.

I'm sorry. I'm not here to pick on anyone, but that is a funny fact.

IMHO, the Ruiz bike does not belong in the top 5, and the Spencer goal wasn't as good as the Roberts goal against the Fire. O'Brien's goal was better than Ruiz's and should have come in higher than the Fish's premeditated bike.

Well I knwo it's just a Crew goal, but Brian West's sidevolley strike was as good as any of those five, and clearly was a more startling piece of work than at least two, probably three of them.

Agreed, and I'd say the same about Diego Walsh's goal against DC.

Diego Walsh's goal was something of genius. If we had a better season I'm sure people would consider it.

yes. haven't you been following the news?

buddle had a real nice goal this year also. maybe we as fans don't respect it enough, but i'm sure coaches and scouts were drooling when they saw it. Im talking about Edson's goal against chicago where he took the cross on his chest, let it bounce once, then tapped it over kelly gray's head and volleyed it past zach. it actually was world class.
maybe we should start calling the boy Pele, the man he was named after.
