Given season starts early not sure worth having a dedicated pre-season thread - so might as well lump it all in here :)

I think the 31st home game against Rayo Vallecano is just announced? Is the day after we play Atleti in Oslo.

    Anyhow - preseason now looks to be as follows;

So weird with that 6 week break. I wonder how teams will manage the players who will not be going to the WC.

One thing that might work in our favor is the fact that there are going be 4 CL group games in October and we're playing all top teams (other than Liverpool) then.

Considering the top club teams usually have a lot of players who play for countries that progress further in the WC, I wonder if we may see some underdogs make a run in the domestic leagues and CL/EL. Have to imagine some of those players bodies will have taken a beating over the last 2 year, with minimal breaks. It will take an extraordinary level of management to maintain.

With 5 senior players having left, think we all expected more progress by now.

He was 5 or 15 before. #15 was free but he chose #12 (Smallings old number).

Supposedly the reason being that #12 is never worn by a Feyenoord player as it is for "The Legion" (the Feyenoord supporters). So as a Rotterdam born player is believed to be why he chose the number as mark of respect to fans of his previous / home town club.

31 going on the tour, including a lot of youngsters Laird, Hannibal, Iqbal, Savage, Amad, Pellistri, Chong, Garnacho etc.

Nice share on Feyenoord and Malacia.
    No Mengi/Galbraith/Williams/Shoretire/Fernandez/McNeill/Jones

Interesting from ETH. He picked Zidane Iqbal, Savage and Chong to be part of the squad. He brought in Kovar. The rest were predictable.

    I am surprised at Shoretire/Galbraith/Jones/Mengi.

    THAT SQUAD lol

Apparently loans and transfers. The Spanish leftback and Shorettire going on loan. Probably selling Galbraith.

I am happy with the squad. A lot of guys have opportunities to try to make it. That squad will be different from the one that will play on August 7.

1 year later and i'd still like to see Varane get the #4. and no, still don't care to hear about Jones or disrespect or any of that stuff this time round. he's done nothing for the 4 he can get assigned another number (or not) that reflects his importance and status.

i assume Martínez will get the #6 or his old #21.

looks like Sancho will have to wait another year for the #7. would be nice to see Mejbri get the 18 but so far Iqbal looks more likely if it was to go to any youngster

actually now that i think about it Eriksen needs a number too. he'll likely get the 18? since we haven't tossed Shaw who wears the 23 he likes (i think?)

Pre-season is complete. We have back to back games next week.

    Surprises:
    Zidane Iqbal
    Martial form
    Tactics

    Concerns:
Lindelof and Maguire partnership conceded the most goals
    Bailly must play more minutes
Number 6 position - Fred still shows gaps in ball retention with basic errors
Rashford - same old same old

    Unknowns:
New signings - how they fit and be synced with the team
Starting CB's - Varane and Bailly for me until Martinez gets going
Garner - Must play against Athletico Madrid not against Rayo Vallecano
Mejbri - Versatile player but we need to identify where he adds the most value to the team
Diallo - Test him on the right side with the starting lineup and see how he does
Pellistri - Test him on the right side with the startling lineup and see how he does

We need to have outgoings to establish the squad by August 7th.
