Seconded. When was the last time the Galaxy were out of the playoff hunt by first week of August? Has to be those Rude Ruud days. Sucks.
So @Knave, can you do United fans a solid and untoast them for just one week after their crazy transfer window deadline?
So thanks to @Knave's opening post I took a look back at the old threads. Best I can tell this is the earliest (as far as games played) that we've had 5 teams toasted. 2011 had 5 teams a game or two after where we are now is about the closest. Usually the thread doesn't start for another game or two and then we generally have just 1 or teams toasted at that point. I didn't look too closely at pre-2011 though since the lower number of games in a season throws off the comparison.
As the league expands, I do expect this thread would need to start earlier and earlier. Don't tell the Horrible Horde.
It is my understanding that the best time to start this thread is prior to week 1. But seriously, I'm actually expecting an expansion of the playoffs either when LAFC/Beckham United actually joins the league or when the next expansion happens.

That's because neither CLB nor ORL has been toasted. Let's see ... Would MIN fans complain? No. They're MN nice, their team sucks, and they know and accept that. How about COL fans? No, they also know their teams sucks and they accept that. LAG fans? I thought they might complain, but I think they understand the hole that Curt dug (best LAG coach ever!), and I don't think they have much confidence in Sigi turning things around. RSL fans? Do they complain about things? I don't think they do. And DCU fans certainly have no grounds for complaining. So that leads to the real question: whose fans will whine first when their team is toast? I would say SJE, but I don't expect them to be toast anytime soon. NER? Maybe, but I kind of doubt it. They know they suck. PHI? To complain about being toasted, you need to have irrational confidence in your team. I don't think PHI fans have that. I'm thinking MTL fans will be the first to protest. They'll be the Crewligans of Canada.
