Look around the world of clubs in debt: who can afford to dismiss the easy money that comes from a shirt sponsor? IMO the Unicef deal was ambiguous deal with it's upsides and downsides. Near East world is a growing power in football and like Unicef, QF is a charity organization - of course much less well known, but still. There is an upside in allowing one charity organization to give us 150m when they smack their logo on our shirt in comparison of us giving money to another charity organization because they allow us to smack their logo on our shirt. Having said that, I too kinda miss the days with no logo shirt. But when I look at my Ronaldo-season Kappa shirt and the new shirts, I think the new ones look great as well.
I have a kappa one, I don't like them. Too much Kappa, all the Nike ones with out a sponsor are the cool ones. In 06 we should have stood up against the Unicef, not now. Regardless doesn't most Unicef money go to pay executives, and then to help children?
http://www.goal.com/en/news/12/spai...-city-ready-to-raid-barcelona-for-100-million That's interesting. If it's true, I don't think we could say no. I doubt iniesta would want to leave though. Would definitely be a bitter-sweet deal.
i can see city making such an offer, and i can see barca being willing at that price. but i can't possibly imagine why iniesta would consider moving there for all the money in the world.
why should Iniesta move? he has the best team in the world in Barcelona. And with city he won't win anything!
Hilarious BS. We should only sell if: a) the player is unhappy and/or b) the player isn't fitting in with the team's style of play You happy here, Don Andres? Sounds good.
it is 12 Central Europe time so that is 3am PST. I know as it is 4am here in Arizona and during the winter, we are 1 hour ahead of you if you are in California. http://www.uefa.com I am watching the CL and the EL draws there.
I will be watching it live at http://www.uefa.com I guess working night shift does have good points occasionally.
I'm awake, I'm tuning in also. Glowing article on Xavi by Sid Lowe to pass the time: http://www.worldsoccer.com/news/xavi_news_304510.html
oh yeah is all I have to say. I don't know if I should put it down as some might want to wait till they wake up to watch it but I will say no one will be disappointed with who Barcelona got.
It's all good, we are discussing it in the Champions League draw thread... On that note, it's time to put this Season Thread to bed. I think we usually start a part 2 when the winter break starts, so why don't we do that again. We'll start a new Season Thread after the Espanyol match. In the meantime, if anyone has more suggestions on titles, let's hear them. Plenty of material to work with, from the CL draw to the Ballon d'Or.
The 2010/2011 Season Thread Pt. 2 : There's no "i" or "me" in Balon d'Or The 2010/2011 Season Thread Pt. 2 : Gunning towards Wembley or should it be "Gunners for Wembley"? The 2010/2011 Season Thread Pt. 2 : Team of the Decade In reference to the findings announced by something called the Research Centre of History and Statistics of Spanish Football (CIHEFE).
"In the last 12 months, a player has completed 100 or more passes just 24 times in the whole of Europe. On 12 of those occasions that player was Xavi."
I seem to remember a Guardian article talking about stats of the week and Anderson got 100 passes or something like that. I may be wrong but it was either him or Denilson.
Can we just use your sig? How about... "Season Thread Part 2 | For The Holidays, Everyone Gets Five Goals" "Season Thread Part 2 | Team of the Decade, Champions for the Winter" "Season Thread Part 2 | It's a Safe Bet, Ballon D'or Winner Will Be Culé"
