Resich is definitely new to the LAFC team, which is strongly a system team. Yes, coming from an ECNL team where he was the star. I do not think he makes the correct runs but I do think he is learning. His goals are coming off hard work... and LAFC rarely looks like they have to work hard to score. I think he will be a different player when given the time to adjust. With that said, yes Rosenthal was coming off an injury and oddly limited. He came in during their 2nd or third game and not sure why his minutes didn't increase from that point. He is a much more dynamic striker and a speed merchant. I assume Arteaga will stay on the left, Dempsey in the 9 and Rosenthal on the right of a front 3.
Since some if not all of these games are viewable I made a separate thread for the tournament: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/u15s-in-2022-torneo-delle-nazioni.2120624/
Hey guys, just some housekeeping/thread clean-up. I really appreciate the birth month discussion, but it's a little outside the scope of our '07 YNT thread. I found an old thread on Malcolm Gladwell's discussion of this topic and moved all the posts there. Thank you all! https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/malcolm-gladwell-on-the-birth-month-phenomenon.875966/
All quiet on the 2007 front lately, hope everyone is having a nice long weekend. You probably don't really want a mom in this thread, but assume you do like to watch talent, so here you go, a spring season edit (preview - apparently, not complete until after Dallas). Conrad (Sweatman) got his UK citizenship this month, Reading FC trial in the works for July which is exciting. The journey is interesting to say the least
Soccer moms (and dads) are always welcome on BigSoccer! We need more on here sharing their perspectives and stories about what it’s like interacting with the YNTs and USSF. Glad to have you here!
I started a Yanks Abroad Academy thread for your son here: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/conrad-sweatman-on-trial-at-reading-fc.2121096/ Feel free to post anything over there about his upcoming trial at Reading! And good luck to you all!
This is horrid of me, but reading your post made me conjure the word "smilf." (no, I have never laid eyes on the mother of the Leal brothers)
Saw in a tweet (I thought it was re: DeCarlo Guerra) from @ussoccer97531 that he believes a U-15 camp is possible in August.
Guys, I decided I’m going to go ahead and rename this thread (and sticky it) to match our other YNT threads. According to the press release US Soccer released about the Torneo delle Nazioni tournament, Concacaf is expected to do a U-15 boys championship in 2023. https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...o-delle-nazioni-in-austria-italy-and-slovenia
Shouldn’t this be renamed to 2023 U16 since all the historical content is about 07s? Then make a new one for the 08s/Cavan Sullivan
The Concacaf U-15 Boys Championship in 2023 will be for ‘07 birth years (and rising ‘08s). The ‘09s (Cavan’s birth year) will probably start their U-15 cycle in January 2024 (and play in the Concacaf U-15 Boys Championship in 2025. I hope this is right, but please correct me if it’s not!
Well, I guess I’m thoroughly confused now. I thought: U-20= 2003s U-17= 2005s U-15= 2007s Is that not correct? @David Kerr @ussoccer97531
Since the U20 WC is in 2023 the age eligibility is 2003 or younger. The U17 championship is in 2023 so that means players have to be born in 2006 or before. The U15 CONCACAF championship is also in 2023, so players have to be born in 2008 or before.
@Peretz48, by “before”, you mean after, right? So for the U-15 Championship next year, players have to be born after Jan. 1, 2008. So ‘08s and maybe ‘09s.
@TheFalseNine 2023 U-20= 2003-2005s U-17= 2006-2007s U-15= 2008-2009s 2025 U20= 2005-2007s U17= 2008-2009s 2027 U20= 2007-2009s It's confusing because the cycles are two years but there's three years between U20 and U17. It's staggered so that the group that is the younger U17 cohort gets a chance to be the oldest U20 year, and the oldest U17 year slides back to be a younger U20 year.
Okay, that’s helpful! Thank you. And thank @ynwa.66, @Campeones123, and @Peretz48. So, what I should do is rename this the ‘07 thread and create a new thread for the ‘08s and ‘09s U-15, right? Does that make sense?
And then we get into the timeworn discussion about the months players are born within a birth year. This always shows up with the U17s. So for the final U17 roster we'll probably see mostly 06s, and of those maybe 2/3 will have been born in the 1st half of 2006. So, for example, two of the more prominent names in the '06 class are Adrian Simon Gill, born 1/3/06 and Jude Wellings, 4/26/06. While it's not guaranteed that either or both will be on the qualifying roster and/or the WC roster, it's certain that many others will also have been born in the first half of 2006.
One I like to reference is Luis Rivera. That kid is a December birthday, and he's probably about as polished of an '07 as there is right now. Clearly has superior talent for the game.
