Such cool and calm finishing. Such swagger to his game too. I hope these reemergence in form helps get him back to the NT over say Wondo.
Most likely the second, and more likely good coaching than either. At his age, barring a complete change of position (CF to CB, RB to CDM, etc.) a player's abilities don't change that much, but placing that player in the right position with the right team mates makes a huge difference to his production. Which is what a coach is supposed to do.
Shot by a shaky camcorder (what, no tripods in Mexico?) but has a lot of clips. Herc had several chances, one of which came off the crossbar late.
Interview: http://www.espnfc.com/mexican-liga-...epared-for-relegation-dogfight-against-chivas At present, Puebla is riding high in fourth place in the Clausura regular season table, with 15 points from its nine matches, but Chivas are only a point behind and undefeated Veracruz is almost safe in second place on 19 points. "It's been a tough pill to swallow," lamented Gomez, who added he'd like to stay at Puebla after his current six-month loan from Club Tijuana runs out. "We haven't been able to enjoy these last few games. I mean 10 points from the last possible 12 (available) and you still can't enjoy it with the way he situation is going with UDG (Leones Negros) and all that." Gomez is the leading scorer in the cup this season, but has struggled for minutes in Liga MX.
Herc's Copa MX success appears to have earned him the starting nod in Puebla's biggest game of the year, home to Chivas. Huge consequences for who ends up in the relegation slot. Lots of US ties in this one. 4 Yanks start: Gomez and Orozco for Puebla, Ponce and Brizuela for Chivas. 3 more former MLSers start: Erpen for Puebla, Bravo and Salcedo for Chivas 2 more former MLSers on the bench: Blanco for Puebla, Torres for Chivas 1 father of a US YNT player on the bench: Arce for Chiva
Most managers rotate the squads for Cups and give younger players a run out. In any case, the standings in the Clausura playoff race are tight, as to be expected from the Mexican half-seasons. After 11 match days (out of 17), Puebla is now in the 8th and last playoff spot, tied with Toluca and Jags on points at 15 but, with only three points separating 6th (Atlas with 17) from 12th (Pumas with 14), it's still wide open.
Mexico has a rule that if your team finishes last in the relegation race, you can not play in the playoffs, so Even if Puebla finishes top 8, but are last in the 3 year table, then they would be replaced by the 9th placed team.
Hérculez Gómez 69 min for Puebla, Jonathan Bornstein 90 for Querétaro in a Frisco, TX friendly. 3:3 thru 90, Querétaro wins 4:1 PKs. #USMNT— Roderick MacNeil (@rodmacneil) March 29, 2015

The forward has scored once in seven league appearances since joining La Franja on loan in January and notched five goals in six Copa MX matches. After struggling with injuries at Club Tijuana, which still owns his rights, Gomez says he's feeling better than ever. "If I’m being quite honest, maybe that ship has sailed," he said. "I don’t think there’s enough interest [in MLS] to get me back. But it doesn’t mean I’ll stop supporting the league, it doesn’t mean I’ll stop watching my friends play and be happy for them. I think regardless of your take on the CBA, it’s grown and it continues to grow, and that’s what we all want."
