I highly recommend it. It's a comedy-drama, not a comedy. It gives a plausible-enough-for-TV reason how Ted Lasso ends up managing a Prem team. There are bits here and there that will have you cracking up, even pausing so that you can finish laughing at jokes so as not to miss dialogue. But at its core it's a deeply, deeply sweet show. The finale airs Friday, so I don't know how the season is going to end. But it's a show about redemption and forgiveness. In our historical moment, it's a warm blanket on a cold night.
I read a really nice review in Entertainment Weekly that expressed surprise at it being good as it. "Sweet" is the word they used too. Only available on Apple TV+ though, so I will have to wait . . . until whenever to watch.
I've read Sudeikis' performance likened to that of a Jimmy Stewart in say "It's a Wonderful Life". Something about the disarming quality of super-earnest kindness.
The ending of the season was a bit clunky...I figured out what was going to happen before it did; the subtle foreshadowing wasn't as subtle as the writers thought. And the very end of the show...you know precisely how the 2nd season is going to play out, and you have a pretty good idea about the 3rd season.
Ted Lasso was renewed for a 3rd season today. They also said that neither season 2 or 3 will tackle COVID because they want it to remain escapist.
It's almost incomprehensible that a goofy commercial from 2013 turned into one of the best shows in all of streaming TV and now a part of the most recent FIFA game.
Not to mention that Ted Lasso's personality and demeanor were changed between those 2013 NBC commercials and the streaming TV show. -G
Thanks to the new MLS TV deal, we'll subscribe to Apple+ (I know we don't have to but it'll be easier I am sure and the MLS package discount for subscribers equates to about four free months). So then we'll watch Ted Lasso finally.
Having just subscribed to Apple TV+ last night as part of the MLS package process (swapping out Paramount Plus in the process), we'll start on this series in the coming month or so.
We watched the first two episodes but are already watching "Welcome to Wrexham" and between that and live soccer, I have to allow Mrs. Ismije some non-soccer viewing every now and again.

Then run the gauntlet of good to great Apple shows (the ones I've watched): Ted Lasso Severance For All Mankind Servant See Five Days at Memorial Slow Horses The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey Black Bird Shrinking Hello Tomorrow! That way you never have to leave the Apple TV app.
We are watching Mythic Quest, which is great. My wife is a gamer and spent four years in one of the massive online games (Elder Scrolls Online) and Mythic Quest is right up her alley.
It's on my list to get to, along with The Morning Show, Physical, Trying, and a couple of others. The "worst" thing I've watched on the service is The Essex Serpent and it was still solid.
The other thing we watched already is Schmigadoon, and a musical is perhaps a niche I didn't need (but was quite enjoyed by my wife).
