Agreed. Ole doesn't have pull and the clusterfcuk of a club makes it worse. Poch's allure will lose some gloss due to the inept leadership. Top talents will also have to be sold on changes beyond the manager
BREAKING: Manchester City have been banned from the Champions League for the next two seasons for breaking FFP rules and been fined €30m. (Source: @UEFA) pic.twitter.com/hU05vmZCnq— Transfer News Live (@DeadlineDayLive) February 14, 2020
UEFA actually did it: that in itself is an accomplishment. Let's see now if the sentence holds as City are sure to appeal this. Wouldn't be surprised if it's at least reduced. We'll see but well done on UEFA's part to show some fortitude for a change.
My money is on it being 2 years, so that when it goes down to 1, it seems like they are being "fair".
Why is anyone acting like this is real? They'll appeal, pay someone off, and end up with just a fine. At worst they get one season.
Chelsea get Ziyech. Wheeling and dealing even before summer. I'm pretty sure we're not going to get anything done till the very last day of the window.
This is huge. Good job. Even if they relax the punishment to a year it is still a big step. Can't remember something this punitive handed out recently for any transgression.
That negotiation starts with Woodward trying to sign Pep as manager, and ends up with him selling Rashford for 11.5 million.
i'm not moved ny this news. Milan convicted via calciopoli still got in after a supposed CL ban. city and PSG have been dodging these supposed punishments for proven misdemeanors. so what's changed this time to make it any different?
Pretty public to dish out 2 years for it to be decreased to 0 years. That wouldn't be smart on any platform.
Sancho won't stop... Jadon Sancho. 2-0, @BlackYellow. Watch and learn, kids. 🔥👏 pic.twitter.com/24CXHvaNjL— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) February 14, 2020 Haaland on the scoresheet also in this game.
Can someone tell me what Hamza Choudry is supposed to be good for? Besides dirty tackles and bookings?
https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...er-city-ban-from-champions-league-europe-uefa The evidence against City appears pretty clear and incontrovertible. Unfortunately, when it comes to football and its governing bodies in particular, we really can't assume anything. And that City's punishment somehow ends up being reduced at the very least (or even worst all but completely overturned). Fingers crossed, the CAS holds firm.
If the 2-year CL ban holds through appeal, I wonder how Citeh's roster spending would change, if any. When Juve were relegated 2 divisions down due to calciopolli, it took them 2 seasons of promotion and 1 Serie A campaign to get back to the Champions League. Along the way, they had to dismantle what was one of Europe's most talented rosters from the lack of Champions league revenue. Would Citeh's stars stay put just to compete in the domestic league? Would Pep? Txiki and the gang? Luckily for Citeh, they still play in the Prem, where the money is. Sure, the CL ban would hurt, but not as much as not competing in the Prem.
You make a good point about Juve, but I will say after tearing down and rebuilding, they are better off than before Calciopoli
